The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
One of my nieces was on my computer this morning as I left for a final, I come back, fire it up and what do you know, my icons are all jacked up.
For some reason the text under the icon(the name of the shortcut) has a background color, rather then just being clear and showing me the rest of my sexy wallpaper.
The color can be changed by changing the 'color' under the desktop tab. I use a wallpaper so no desktop color really matches ofcourse and since there is no "transparent" desktop color(what would that look like?), what am I to do?
Right click "My Computer" and select "Properties" to open the System Properties window.
Head to the "Advanced" tab and select "Settings" in the performance section.
Scroll down the list on "Visual Effects" and make sure that "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is checked. If not, check and apply. This should make the color disappear.
