It's wild that it looks like I will be buying Sonic Generation three times in as many years.
In 2022, I had renewed interest in my old PS3, and picked up a bunch of titles I never got around to buying, including Sonic Generations (I originally beat it on a rental copy).
In 2023, I got a Series S, and bought a digital copy of the 360 version for that sweet FPS Boost (and it does look a lot better).
I'm a bit iffy paying $50 for this on Steam when the Generations levels seem to look/play identical to the original release. Its not like I'm buying into higher resolutions or framerates or something.
Yeah, Sonic games drop in price relatively quickly - not sure we'll get a Christmas sale unless it really underperforms, but maybe sometime shortly after.
I mostly dropped off of Sonic fandom after the first (and pretty decent) Advance game, so my familiarity with Shadow lore begins and ends with SA2. Still, this seems like a loving tribute to the character and a good addition to justify a re-release of Generations.
It is a shockingly out of character competent move from Sonic Team to release a (presumably) improved version of a well liked game with new content to match the up and coming movie.

It is in character to delist the old version from digital stores, though.
(It'll still be available as part of the Legacy Collection, but if there are mods you're interested in, it might be worth grabbing the old one while you can)
In the Sonic 3 trailer Knuckles uses a power that's explained in the show (flames of disaster?) But every review says its a mid to bad show, that should've been titled "Wade & Knuckles" for accuracy.
My wife manages to find something on Paramount just often enough to not bother cancelling it, but I just see it as the Star Trek and Beavis & Butthead app.

I enjoyed it enough, but that latter assessment isn't wrong, either.
Put it like this: I don't regret watching it, but I don't see myself going to rewatch it like I do the movies, but I can see myself rewatching certain parts.

Feels a little weird now with the movie trailers showing Shadow as an (initial) big bad vs. playing as Shadow in the upcoming game. But I'm here for it!

I mean, there's a chance the new Shadow content might not be good. Or it could be awesome. Either way, the original levels are there.

PM Me if you add me!
(I'm not against watching it, I'm just waiting for Paramount+ to have more stuff I want to watch before I sign up for a month)
Unless they already did it, they're going to be airing it on Nickelodeon as well, if that helps.
(And if they already did and you missed it but have Nickelodeon anyway, I'd say you'd be justified in seeking out alternatives.)
