Hey can anyone help me out with a solution to this problem.
I listen to music in windows music player usually while im doing other things. I have seen these keyboards that have special buttons that can be used to control WMP without having to change the focus to it (alt tab etc).
Anyone know of any way i could use some sort of hot key (ctrl + etc) to do stuff like fast forward, skip?
PS im on a laptop so buying one of those keyboards or aditional hardware isnt really an option.
I don't use Windows Media Player has that functionality or not. However, I've recently switched to foobar2000 for the exact same functionality you're talking about (I was using Winamp before). I have mapped my shortcut keys to my Number Pad; unfortunately with a Laptop you don't have the same ability, but you can map the same shortcut keys to any other button on your keyboard.
I'm also pretty sure that foobar uses a lot less memory than WMP; memory usage was the main reason I switched from WMP to Winamp in the first place.
