Hunter best class, as evidenced by the fact that we get a robot leg as our seasonal ornament.

Did some Crucible work just now. Ended up getting a new Hard Light at the end of one match and then my first Prometheus Lens for the match right after. Pretty nuts overall.

So after all the time I spent today, I only just now completed Dev's EDZ quest. This is gonna be a looooong intro questline. Having fun though. Wish there were dual pistols as an option as a thematic Hunter weapon.

Oh. Yep. Sorry, Drifter, that's enough Gambit for me tonight. I wanna relax, not pop a vein trying to fight an uphill battle of randoms versus a pre-made clan-team.

But hey, at least with this last match, I can finally say that I'm properly back now.

I tried to use a scout yesterday in comp and everything I tried I did terrible with. Afterwards I realized I forgot to try MIDA, so I'll try that next and see how it goes.

I don't know how people are having such an easy time in comp this season. I got recluse and mountaintop both last season and am close to lunas, but according to redrix the 8 games ive played since shadowkeep Ive gone 1-7 and my average KD is 1.29 but the match I won I went 1.0 where as the rest are all way lower. I was just getting matched with fucking beasts

To clarify my all time kd average is 1.29

Feels dumb to ask but are you in the team queue or solo queue?

    solo

I personally quite like Polaris Lance, it feels very smooth and the reload has a delightful "clunk" sound effect.

MIDA seems pretty good so far but seems less punchy than the Lance; Jade Rabbit has been mentioned a few times and I should give that a go.

I tried to join a team saying they needed help with the boss to do a Divinity run. I figured "Hey I want Divinity and I would save time if they are on the boss" so I joined them. We failed to do the DPS tether three times, people let a lot of sacrifices in, and were dying constantly. Tried to rebuild during DPS. Just nobody seemed to know what to do, so I checked people's clears.

Only one other person had completed it before, and like me they were a pickup from LFG.

I don't usually use clears as a reason to stay or go, but I am not sure trying to do Divinity as part of your first run makes sense. Maybe just try and make it through first sometime.

So can anyone give me the primer on how the Black Armory stuff works now, if I've never done it before? Because the current state doesn't seem to jive with the guides I see online that were released at the time. They all talk about different forges, and I only see the one forge on EDZ, for example.

Is it just a matter of doing bounties to get the token to buy a weapon frame, then do a bunch of steps to complete that frame, then do the forge to get the weapon? Anything else in there I'm missing?

Which of the frames come highly recommended, and are there exotics I have to get through the Black Armory quests?

Polaris Lance is a lovely gun- even better after tormenting Cabal in Leviathan for the catalyst. I'm forever torn between it, Graviton Lance and Sunshot, though. Scout-boom, Pulse-boom, Cannon-boom? What's today's flavor?

It used to be certain weapon frames could only be built through certain forges, except all frames could also be built in Bergusia. You had to land on the planet and walk to the forge to start it.

Now, all weapon frames can be made from any forge. As a result, they threw all the forges into a single node on EDZ you can select from orbit, and it rotates the forge each day since it doesn't really matter which one you do. So,
    1. do the 2 weekly bounties to get the Ballistics Logs,
    2. spend the Log on a frame you want,
    3. do the frame requirements (get multikills or whatever depending on the frame),
    4. get the 20 seeds (killing a Mars Lost Sector boss is 10 a piece, quick and easy!),
    5. go to Ada to get the final version of the frame,
    6. do the forge node on EDZ (kill blue glowy guys for a charge to drop, pick up the charge and throw it at the floating pillar, it helps to hit the pillar between the struts sticking out, 20 successful charge throws will clear the round, there's two rounds of charge throwing and a single round after which is a boss fight.)
    7. the loot will fall at the bottom of the forge once the boss is dead, randomly including extra updated guns from Y1 that only drop as a random extra from forges, and you can also get Armory armor if you get a doodad from Ada and use it before doing the forge

You'll also get Modulus Reports which will let you buy the same weapon frame again that same week if you want to farm a certain weapon.

The pulse rifle (Blast Furnace) and machine gun (Hammerhead) are really great weapons. The rest aren't bad either, but those are the big two.

Jotunn, Le Monarque, and Izanagi's Burden are Exotic weapons that come from the forges. I'm not sure how those work now, I think there's quests you can pick up?

It's on the longish end (I wish the Infinite Forest intro would get cut in half or maybe even removed entirely) but I think Garden World is still my favorite strike

It just feels like some oldschool RPG dungeon, this epic elaborate tower that you see in the distance at first then slowly ascend while battling enemies until you reach the top and it's this beautiful vista and a giant robot eyeball shoots lasers at you

Yesterday we had a raid run where everyone already had a clear, so we had almost everyone switch jobs. Struggled with the final boss, but long term I think it’s a good idea to have everyone get familiar with what’s happening everywhere.

    Also, on the final fight
Switched from having left team / right team for building, to the two permanently home players always building together. Mote team is dedicated to motes and never touches tethers for building.

A big thing I noticed with the raid when I finally saw a good team take it down
having the runner team stagger their mote deposit, and specifically having the one not depositing first take out the new Cyclops/bring back the other team. That way the guys defending can focus on building without getting creamed.

Also being good at the boss damage tether is huge. I never saw a damage phase that long until we had a team that didn't fumble the second tether and lose a bunch of time.

We two phased the boss because we all were doing ~1 million damage per phase each

People are finally starting to understand how the tether actually works and subconsciously picking up on the best places to stand for them.

    As a dedicated builder/tether guy:

    1) Stand fucking still unless absolutely necessary.
    2) Jump up and down but not side to side.
    3) Tethers are a fixed distance. Jumping changes that. Moving side to side changes that. Jumping side to side changes it a lot.
    4) Stay far away unless you’re a part of the tether. BUT if you get roped in, sometimes it’s better to stay in if the chain doesn’t change directions.

This is mechanically the most difficult thing to learn in a Destiny raid that I’ve encountered, but it’s hilariously simple once you grasp it. It’s a hard execution check but mostly it’s a panic generator. Panic is the worst enemy in that encounter.

The sound design of the encounter actually kinda helps, but you can't hear it over the constant radio chatter needed to coordinate. Like the sacrificing goblins make a shining noise but it's easy to miss. Same with the tether, it makes a noise as each "rope" extends outward. Hard to hear but can help make sense of how it chains person to person.

Somebody on my team tried to use slova bomb during the DPS phase of the Consecrated Mind fight in the raid.

Worst DPS phase ever, of all time.

Looks like they have fixed the legendary forges counting, or at least I got two in a row to count. So that is quite nice.

Also I took my awesome dumb anime sword into Gambit Prime matches. So turns out Invaders don't expect me to shoot a ranged projectile when I run at them with a sword. Also I killed a sniper by launching my shonen anime super move across the map at them.

I actually really like GoS and even Sanctified Mind as a raid encounter, I just wish LFG groups were less terrible at it. I imagine it is what non-cheese Riven LFG would be like.

I just find people struggle on panic similar to Gahlran, but with less space for heroic recovery. I just don't know why people struggle so much, since like other end bosses seem similarly complex. It doesn't seem insanely worse than others but maybe I am missing it.

It's absolutely the tether mechanic, and also the Cyclops that can one shot you if you forget even for a second to kill them.

It requires trusting your team to be doing their job which can be tough in a LFG

I must admit, I'm only halfway through that video I posted last night from Prof Broman that features My Name Is Byf but there's this lore-entry that Broman brought up that puts a neat spin on the Ghosts' resurrection power. It's around the 1-hour 30 mark but basically...
...it's a theory by a Ghost that lost his Guardian on the Almighty. From what he's gathered from another Ghost connected to some City-cult, Ghosts don't so much resurrect Guardians as they replicate them from an alternate timeline where things didn't go south. Darkness-zones in-verse are simply areas where there's virtually no timeline where the Guardian manages to succeed, thus they can't be brought back from there.
