I love me some Geometry Wars, and I like the Wii motions controls, but I just can't see them being precise enough for this particular game. Unless they tone it down some, I guess.

The Wii remote is plenty accurate.
And there's always the Classic Controller.

But you'd need to point in a full circle, so it'd have to use the sensor bar
and that means you'd have to constantly be pointed at the TV
so if you go off by accident, you're fucked
Going off the sensor bar isn't a big issue unless the game forces you to put the pointer on the edges of the screen, which this would not. But yeah, I don't see this working right. The classic or Gamecube controllers would be perfect though. Not every game needs waggle and the Wii has plenty of standard control options.

They need to do a rez-vibrator style mod for this..

Not for Geometry Wars, it isn't.
that's some fast-paced shit
I don't think you realise how accurate it can get.

It can detect motion as small as 5 nanometers.
That is some bullshit right there
That is literally hundreds of times smaller than the wavelength of infrared light
Does the Wii come with a tunneling electron microscope now?
Also if you're going to link this don't bother. 1/40th the thickness of human hair? They're off by AT LEAST an order of magnitude
For the Wii, the nunchuck would move while pointing with the remote would tell the ship what direction to shoot. You could get some nice precise aim off of that by pointing directly at the enemies or you could easily just point to corners of the screen.
Guess that's pretty much what Fyre said earlier. I could see that working.
I got Geometry Wars for the 360 thinking it wouldn't come to the Wii Good thing the 360 I have broke
So single player? Anyone curious how this will work? Im hoping for an epic experience like Meteos, and interactive maps! Co-op play (online?) would rock too!
I downloaded the free demo for Geometry Wars and that alone has been enough for me. I haven't been able to beat the damn thing, but I keep coming back to play, it's so freakin' addictive.
I think it would work well on the Wii-mote, It'll probably look a little awkward, but the way I imagine it in my mind I think it'll transition well.
As much as people will tell me that WiiPlay sucks ... the $10 on top of the price of a controller was well worth it just for the shooting gallery game. Then the Tanks and Billiards shoot it way over the top.
I don't doubt that the Wii remote is accurate enough, but Geometry Wars wasn't much fun with a mouse either. You really need dual joysticks for this type of game.
I am sure that they would build the sequel to match the strengths of each platform because a straight port wouldn't be very exciting.

That's what they're doing (Geometry Wars Galaxies), but both original GW games are going to be included.

So Kuju is making these particular iterations of Geometry wars? Wonder who's publishing it...

muh.
what? DS?
portable geometry wars?
edit: Aww man, my initial reaction is: I don't want to play with stylus. But, how else would you do it?
According to the article, it is coming to both the DS and Wii.
No multiplayer in the 360 version, leaderboard stuff, though.

pointer: aim in direction to shoot
done and done

So it shows the pointer on the screen. OK?
I am so gonna get this, although I'm not sure for which system. Have to wait for reviews of the two different control schemes.

I'm I'm allowed no Wii-pun fun, nobody is
Dwii-gon quest is beyond stupid. Sorry dude. GE-ometry. WII-ometry. We at least have a rhyme going.

I wonder if the Wii version will be a budget game released on disc or like $5-10 through Wii online.
