PGR4 is coming late in the year. GW3 will probably come along with it.

GW is probably one of the hardest games I've ever played. I've fought tooth and nail for my 20 damn Achievement Points and I'm damn proud of em!!

Anyways, I cant' really see the controls working for GW on either Nintendo platform, but hey, we'll see how it turns out.

    Whoah.

I am not a geometry wars fan. But, y'know, cool I guess. Classic controller support perhaps?

Anyway, nintendo needs to launch this wii-ware shit stat. Absurd that they haven't opened the spigot yet, or done a better job courting indie developers.

You attack the blue diamond . . .

    You miss!

    The blue diamond moves closer.

You attack the blue diamond . . .

and hit for 3 hit points of damage. The blue diamond is destroyed.

    A purple square approaches!

I'm glad to see more people will have a chance to play this fucking awesome game. But seriously, Bizarre, where the hell is Geometry Wars 3?

This will be to the 360's geometry wars as the xbox's farcry: predator was to farcry PC.

Meaning, not as good looking, not even remotely the same game, but probably still a lot of fun.

I'd like for them to change up the GW formula a bit. I'd like to see levels set up, instead of just a single play with enemies that get progressively harder; basically, just like how Robotron worked.

I wonder if it'll be available through the VC. That'd be a great way to start "new" games for download. (Well, new in that it's not a direct port.)
    Exactly what I was thinking.
Seriously, one of the most exciting things for me when I first heard about the virtual console was the possibility of downloading smaller, arcade-ish games, including new user created games. Where is that?

And I think Geometry Warts does fit in well with the Wii audience. You've got a shooter of some sort, which has been something of a weak point for Nintendo. It wouldn't be competing much against disc titles so much as shmups on the VC like Gradius and R-Type. It does give off some vague old-school vibes- 2D, high scores, etc. And it's all nice and colorful and bloodless- always plusses in the Nintendo universe.

What does the Wii have to offer for Geometry Wars? Is it going to be on the VC? Right now you can get that came for $5 and it plays wonderfully. How much would they dare to charge for this? How would you even play it? Online scoreboards are apart of the appeal of that game, would they make it to the Wii version?

Geometry wars for the Wii will be very different from the 360 version. For one it will have a multiplayer mode and a fully fleshed out single player game.

I doubt it would be online at all.

Now there are other things to think about. How would geometry wars work as a full single player experience? Multiplayer would be pretty cool actually, but a geometry wars "campaign" sounds a little off the wall.

I'm not really following. Metal Slug used the joystick as well. The closest thing in the arcade would probably be a mocap game, or, for the DS, Psy-Phi.

    its completely different.

and as far as the single player goes, ive been saying for years that i would maim, kill, rape whatever needed it to get geometry wars as a psuedo rpg/rts with player ships that are either customisable or level up and change.

The wiimote's motion is extremely accurate. Anyone who thinks it couldn't handle precise enough control to move the GW ship with the pointer is kidding themselves. The problem is that the player can't possibly control it as precisely as you can with the stick; the pointer is for moving quickly across the screen, not precise movement within a centimeter or two.

I don't know, maybe it could work. The entire point of Geometry Wars is the fast paced, defensive, survival shooting/dodging. It's really not a "shmup" by the genre's usual standards and putting those linear levels in the game feels like a disservice to me.

Multiplayer would make the game worth a purchase though, as long as the controls are as responsive as they are on the 360. There's also the possibility that this updated game will come to 360 as well. If that happens, I'd just assume get it on there with my leaderboards, HD graphics, and Xbox Live funcionality for multiplayer.

i dont think it could retain the graphics, considering it uses all of the cores on the 360, and the controls would be different obviously, so that leaves...audio.

It runs just fine on single core PCs.

Now that I think about it, a Spectre inspired single player mode in Geometry Wars would rock hardcore.
