they would have had to hand-map all of it

A last minute VFX/CGI pass is not going to save this. Hearing that they're going to try that AND that they didn't grab any mocap data does not give me confidence that the people in charge have any idea what they're doing :rotate:

I saw Cats. Cats is bizarre nonsense. But it’s mostly bizarre nonsense in the same way the musical is.

CG is definitely weird and off putting at times, but honestly I don’t think it being better or worse would move the needle that much on people enjoying it.

Basically do you have an emotional attachment to the music? Cool, watch some weird horny cat ballet while cat people sing songs about being cats. Not into the music? Enjoy the sensation of your brain melting as you question what’s happening, where you are, and how you got here.

Saw this last night, had a good time. The parts of my brain that went "Why did she unzip her skin, those cockroaches have human faces, the cats wearing just shoes look more naked than the cats with no clothes at all," were slowly drowned out by the half of my brain that went "SKIM-! BLE-! SHANKS-! THE RAIL-! WAY-! CAT-!🎶"

I've never seen the original musical but I sorta knew it existed, and I saw a performance of 'Rum Tum Tugger" on YouTube so I had a decent idea on the baseline of horniness I could expect.

So I could see Judi Dench's wedding ring in my screening of Cats which I think means I saw the non-updated version? God bless the AMC employees not giving a shit if so. The movie was a nightmare, 10/10
