Gladio's character suffers from the game completely ignoring a pile of things that could have been rightfully used to both justify his behaviour and set up some character development.

Literally all they had to do was give like five minutes to the fact that Gladio's dad died along with Noct's, and then that old guy who was supposed to have been a close family friend to the Amicitias was also killed. Show Gladio struggling to stow his grief for the sake of his duty to Noct, finally snapping on the train when Noct is being openly sad while Gladio has forced himself to carry his own emotional burden alone. Resolve everything with the bros acknowledging that they're all going through the shit but they're all there to support each other.

The Promto and Ignis episodes are both good.

Don't skip episode Aryden. It's amazing how much better it makes the back half of the game flow.
