I got Label and Gulliver this week. Next week I'll probably get Label, who haunts my island practically at this point and likely something else that's 100% not useful.

If they add other visitors to the game while keeping the same guaranteed ones, this could make ever finishing my museum without cheating impossible. That just 100% puts me off the game permanently.

Edit: TL:DR My main motivation for playing AC was finishing the museum. It's now impossible. Now I have no motivation to keep playing.

I agree the Redd stuff is a big drag. Something I was wondering about is, does the stuff Gulliver gives count as art? Wish I had done more of his stuff

I think it would be cool if they changed those weekly visitors to rotate on a set schedule, or appear more frequently

I'd be curious to look at Nintendo's road map, since they couldn't possibly have predicted this not only being their best selling game in over a decade, but also everybody being stuck inside with nothing to do but play it.

I'd like to see it eventually settle into a couple special NPCs every day if they introduce a couple more. The slow burn on Label, Gulliver, and Redd is torture.

This is of course a very personal choice and all that but have you considered time traveling? The visitors for the week are set every Sunday, so if you keep going back to the last Sunday you can essentially re-roll for the week until you get something worthwhile. It sounds like you're really getting boned by the RNG and this might be a way to salvage some enjoyment for you.

Also you could use a mirror and basically body-swap with the Resident Representative, and then just use the profile for AC if you don't want to go through the hassle of starting a new island. Then again starting a new island is actually pretty fun and refreshing in my experience so *shrug*

Redds entire mechanics are designed to be long, drawn out and frankly spiteful. Aside from his ridiculously low spawn rate, you're only allowed to buy one item and I want the fakes as much as the real ones! But it's not even artwork - Redd will sell color variations of things that you can't easily get on your island like some of the nook catalog things.

Lief in comparison is just utterly useless. Once my shop upgraded we realized the Nooks sell a wider variety of flowers than Lief does - which is just weird! The only thing he offers are a couple of bushes you might buy once and then never need to see ever again. Why is he weekly? How does it make sense to make him weekly?!?

Edit: I would feel like a hypocrite having criticized time travel - especially after the bank nerf - but then doing it myself. Also, I really don't feel like fucking around with my system clock.

I’m pretty against TT in general, but sometimes you gotta do what makes the game FUN for you.

I have allowed myself three (3) TT occasions:

1) Couldn’t go an early day without res services because of couch co-op with 5yo. Needed access to the recycle box badly.

2) To make it so 5yo could play way past his bedtime one night.

3) To correct what I firmly believe is an overly-punishing Redd appearance rate.

I feel no shame or “cheating” about any of this. Because I ain’t got time to spend being angry about Animal Crossing, if I can “fix” it easily.

I wholeheartedly agree that it's very dumb and only promotes time traveling, but I'm also quite against it for myself so I'm definitely going to hold out a few months to see if they patch it.

Shit, they patched easter egg drop rates, so maybe there's some cause for optimism on the QOL front.

I want the Redd stuff, only because I'm getting closer to a full Fossil wing of the Museum so eventually my Fishy side will be full too. Leaving just the art to collect, and if it's too difficult I'm just gonna not bother. I didn't in New Leaf and it was easier from what I can remember, but I honestly wanted to get more done this time, but the game doesn't seem to want me to. It's funny, they've done a lot to make some QoL stuff better and yet fall short the last 20 yards you need to make the game go from good to amazing. If Redd showed up every week guaranteed, I wouldn't be annoyed.

Maybe it's because this is my first Animal Crossing game outside of Pocket Camp, but I don't care that much about visitors like Redd not coming around that often. I enjoyed the game before Redd arrived, and I still enjoy it now. Sure, I wish he showed up more often. I totally want to put statues all over my island. Haha. But it gives me a reason to keep playing the game to keep acquiring that stuff. I don't feel like I need to finish everything right away because then I'd be bored and there'd be nothing left to do. -shrug-

I like visiting everyone's islands and seeing what you guys are designing. I like getting new recipes for things. I like redoing areas to make something different. I just really enjoy the game. It's fun. :biggrin:

...and that’s what I’m gonna do: Make sure I get to visit him every week.

I feel like the deal we make with AC is that within one calendar year it is possible to acquire a full museum (and do all holidays). That is slow enough. As is, the art wing taking up to five (!) years (with bad RNG) is just Too Much and that’s my line in the sand.

I have played every Animal Crossing game since the GameCube one and I have never completed the art wing of the museum ever, in any of them.

I'd be more annoyed at Redd in this game if I hadn't already assumed that completing the museum is impossible.

Yeah, I'd closed the game earlier after the maintenance started and shut down the switch. Then turned it back on and reopened it after the update. So idk. If you don't get it tonight I'll send you another tomorrow. I just had that one in my inventory but I'll have another by tomorrow.

If everyone notifies the thread about Redd visits and allows others to visit and buy paintings, I think that will overcome bad RNG. People will start running into duplicate real paintings, and then will be open to trading or giving them to others.
