I'm sure it can. People have been posting that it runs well on all sorts of cards. Nixxes has said they tried to make sure it would run on everything from handhelds to top end stuff. It's not Steam Deck certified yet, but I expect it to be at some point.

So interestingly the game works GREAT on Steam Deck. It's listed as "unsupported" because of the Legends multiplayer requiring PSN, which requires Windows. Just playing SP though works with no issues and runs great on Steam Deck.

I forgot this was out today.
Negative reviews look like they’re focusing on the whole PSN account/region lock thing, the talk to the port itself is positive, which is great.

That's a shame. Crashed at the loading screen coming out of the tutorial. Didn't quite hardlock my PC, but close.
And I was having so much fun. And it looks and runs phenomenally. Everything on ultra high, 3440x1440, FSR on Quality and FSR 3 Framegen on and it was pretty much locked at 144fps.
Edit - turns out Framegen is buggy. If you get weird freezing of video while audio continues to play, use Steam or task manager to stop the game, start it again and turn off Framegen in the launcher.

Framegen has been messing with Diablo 4 as well. I tend to not use it, but I have a 4090, so I have the headroom to generally just avoid it.
Not feeling this right now. It seems like missions are too small and just when they get interesting they're done. Happens every damn time.
Does it pick up? I'm incredibly bored right now.

I forgot how this game absolutely nails the atmosphere.
Environmentally, everything it just beautiful. Then you've got leaves falling from trees and being kicked up by foot movements, mist rolling over water in the morning, campfire smoke rising in the distance, forests that look and feel like you're in a forest rather than some tree models placed on open ground...
And selling the fantasy of being a Samurai. Having a standoff with assholes on the road terrorising people or a group of soldiers, being able to bow to random bodies and say some words of respect, having a whole button dedicated to sheathing your blade - cleaning it first if necessary...
Ghost of Tsushima 2 is probably the only game that could sell me a PS5 to play it immediately.

My single gripe about the 1v1 fights is that the various stances have basically no use in them. I guess it keeps them more cinematic to keep the 1v1 to the samurai moves and the Mongol fights more action-y? And also prevents stuffs like using OP undefendable moves, I suppose.

I feel like the game really opens up after the starter area. But honestly the game is less "gamey" and so the missions are small and personal. If the combat doesn't make you feel good then Id say just call it and maybe try again at another time?
I like the combat, it just keeps stopping too soon. Might give it a go when it's not so hot and I'm not so damn grumpy.

The missions definitely pick up. The first... third? of the game I seem to remember the missions being simpler and shorter, but once the story picks up the story missions get meatier.
There's a lot of smaller side quests and open world that you need to do though and the combat and atmosphere are the selling points so if those aren't doing it for you then it'll be a slog sticking it out for the whole game. Combat though gets WAY better. When you unlock bows, stances and the ninja abilities the combat is all kinds of fun.

As the resident grumpo on these forums I know what you mean. I definitely don't suggest spite playing through the game in hopes that it clicks for you as that usually backfires lol. There are a few games I've done that before with and I regret it every time.
Oh I did that one night with HFW when I really wasn't in the mood and ended up raging about it in the horizon thread so yeah not doing that again.
It's so hot here it's making me grumpy but it's hot mostly because our houses are designed to keep heat in but not out.

There's a bug in showdowns where no input works. You just can't do anything and get whacked in the face.
I hear it was also a bug in the PS5 version that never got patched? Also I've read locking your FPS can fix it which is a weird one.

The game design is definitely meant to let you acclimatize to new combat features instead of burying you in them (you're going to be unlocking abilities for quite a while). That means there's a fair period of the early game where encounters are fairly small and limited, I don't think there's really a way around it other than pushing through to later in the game. Should also be noted that early Standoffs (the thing where you square off against enemies in the open) are quick and easy whereas the Act 3 Standoffs are very nearly impossible to pull off with any reliability, and winning those Standoffs can make for very short fights as well.
Which I say not to try and convince anyone to keep going, only to say what you can expect more of if you keep going.

IIRC there's a whole weapon/mechanic you don't unlock until the third act.
The blowpipe. I was surprised they'd leave a mechanic until that late in the game.

It's also a really strong mechanic and they almost certainly didn't want to give it to the player when you could wipe out a whole encampment with 2-3 darts.

Welp, I got my bow. Next up armour and I can start kicking ass.
I’ve been using mouse and keyboard and so far it’s been pretty good. I only rebound dodge to an extra mouse button because left alt is mega awkward.
I’d go controller but mouse aiming for bows is so much better.

There's another unfortunate bug - the game has a pretty nasty memory leak. After about an hour of play, you'll start getting random freezes for a couple of seconds. It's not only when it's saving either.
You have to restart the game to fix it, but it take a while to quit once this hits.
I might stop playing until the game gets a few patches.

I 100%'ed this on PS4, and now I'm completely sucked back in on PC. It's just such a well crafted world. Once you get some techniques and abilities opened the combat becomes so fluid and creative. I agree with the complaint that it can start a little slow, but it really does pick up as you start exploring more of the main story and some of the more important side stories (e.g. those given by named characters).
One fun story thing I only picked up on with this second play through (minor world spoilers)...
At one point your uncle says that your father will always be the wind at your back (Guiding Wind) and that your mother loved the golden birds (the birds that lead you places). So your mother and father are with you throughout the entire game, guiding you and leading you to discoveries.
e: Also, I've found the stand off input bug happens a lot less if I just start holding the button right after I start the stand off. I don't wait for it to say "Hold Y" or whatever. Strangely I never remember it happening on the PS4, but a lot of people say it did? Maybe because I always just held the button right away there as well.
HFW had/has a similar thing going on in it's port due to the allocator Nixxes use to port PS games. Hoping they fix it quickly and in future ports since it's happened a few times now.
I gave this another shot after it cooled down and had a much better time with it. The characters get interesting after the first few missions and the combat really opens up. It's pretty good now.
I love the visual styling of the game and I am having a good time of it. One of my favorite open world games in a bit, honestly.
I feel like Jin is like the Worf of Samurai, though.

Released about 5 minutes ago:
Hey everyone,
Today we are releasing a hotfix to address player reports about the standoff functionality not working properly when playing at high frame rates.
There are no other changes in this hotfix. Please note that we have a larger update with more improvements and bug fixes in the works, which we will release soon.
Thanks again for playing Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut on PC and for providing input helping us to further improve the game.
Release notes v1053.2.0528.1709
Improvements to standoff functionality
The Tengu Demon can fuck off. Hardest fight so far.
There are harder fights, but they do get balanced by unlocking better armor/weapons/charms/skills. If a fight is kicking your ass, it may be easier to go do other quests or search for fox shrines/hot springs and see if you can get your hands on some upgrades
Also just found you don't need to use T to change stances and can just use the number keys.
Son of a biscuit.

This game just sets a mood.
Like when I played it on PS4 I again find myself spending a lot of time just walking through the world, watching the wind blow through the grass, watching leaves swirl around me. I'll bow to unjustly slain farmers on the way, and watch the sun glint through the canopy...
It's going to take me forever to finish this again.

The in-world guidance system using the wind is itself a brilliant, elegant, gorgeous visual solution that lots and lots of games should copy. It gives this whole atmospheric feel of being on this destined mission, not to mention it the sound and visuals damn near make you feel the guiding wind.

I need to pick this up on PC during the next big sale, I platinumed this thing on the PS4 but never touched the DLC
One of the few 7/10 modern open world games that absolutely clicked with me and made me want to do and see everything, even if it was just to look at the gorgeous environments they made
Really hoping we learn what Sucker Punch has been up to lately and that it's a sequel to this, so many ways they could build on what they did here while keeping what worked

7/10, keeping what worked?
I haven't played it in a while but I am curious what didn't work for you, @Olivaw
Or anyone, really. I remember having some negative feelings on the DLC surrounding the big bad but I don't remember the specifics
I was a bit nonplussed to learn that virtually every collectible is just some cosmetic. After a point, I just could not give a shit about a new 3 colour pattern for the sword sheath.
The cosmetics in general got a little too much. There's a dozen dozen headbands, every colour of the rainbow. Every Japanese hat imaginable, letting you customize the colour of the drawstring. All the masks. There's just so much. I'm sure somebody is exploding in their pants over having this level of control in making their dream samurai look, and I'm happy for them. For me, after a point I couldn't give a shit outside the big changes. Style of hat sure. Mask, I'll never see in gameplay and I'd want it off during cutscenes. Sword sheath gave me lightsaber flashbacks from Jedi Survivor. Incredible detail for something effectively a millimeter long to my eyes. And like I said, once you realize that's the sole reward for most collectibles, it mutes the desire to do them, at least for me. You could debate on this being superior open world design, as opposed to a tangible reward you now feel obligated to grind out to get. If your response to all of this is "Well you don't have to do them then", well yeah, you ain't technically wrong.

I'm the guy who loved the cosmetic collectibles!
But I generally don't enjoy open world games so having something unimportant be the collect-a-thon was a selling point to me
So glad they were just visual rewards. Let me basically ignore them for the most part.

Yeah, my thing was there were a lot of cosmetic collectibles, which is great. Except that most of them were very basic headbands or palette swaps of the same four or five designs of sheath or whatever, which is boring
The game was very good about upgrading armor changing it visually but also allowing you to cosmetically use the lower-tier version if you preferred that look. I think you could assign gameplay value to a lot of those cosmetics but just have them not tied to being equipped to get the benefit
The activities were mostly the same and kind of limp, the sidequests were very basic and there was no cutscene direction for any of them, so the presentation really suffered for anything that wasn't the main story or one of the three main subplots, and the final area of the island was cool conceptually but ended up being pretty unimpressive visually after how amazing and colorful the rest of the environments looked (they didn't seem to know how to make snow look good? It's kind of wild how much it feels like they didn't spend as much time on that area in comparison)
There's a lot of little flaws, and what works is also by and large uninspired open world design, and the story is both basic as hell, historically inaccurate, and only just begins to engage with what could be a compelling idea right at the end. So I'd put it at 7/10 (complimentary) as opposed to 7/10 (derogatory). Maybe an 8/10 for how many screenshots I took and how cool the duels could feel

I’m curious if they go with a new protagonist for the sequel.
Everyone assumed they would with Infamous since you were really strong at the end of the first game and instead just found ways to make you even more powerful.
They left the door open for you to play as Tomoe who, given what she did, could have a good redemptive story.
Jin’s story feels done, since it was very personal and ended well. But given what they did with Infamous 2, they could keep going, but I don’t know what mechanics they could add to keep escalating.
