Weighted blankets

I'm looking into getting a weighted blanket!

However, i'm a little leery given a: price, and b: I'm super senstive to overheating at night.

This is what i'm looking at currently: https://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/bambury-weighted-blanket/33438139

Can anyone comment with reviews, recommendations on a better blanket, or similar?

Cursory looks around the internet suggest that is about 4 times the average cost for a high-end weighted blanket. Amazon has a ton of reviews for similar products with better price points and more comprehensive reviews, maybe shop there and then buy at another vendor if you don't like Amazon?

The only Problem I can see there is mighty ape sells in NZD - I suspect that between international shipping + us prices, it'd end up much of a muchness.

But that's a good point, thank you

Yep, as i thought: Between shipping and NZ currency costs, it's 30 NZD more than just buying it from mighty ape.

Re:overheating. They're actually not that hot, the sand-like stuff that's in them has a low isolating value. My partner has one and she uses an additional blanket for heat on top of her weighted blanket.

Yeah, I have a weighted blanket and it's the best thing ever, and it's no hotter than any other average blanket.

I do feel they're hotter, but not by a huge amount. I just make sure the temp is down an extra degree or two at night to compensate.

We made our own weighted thing for our son. We found polyfill beads were expensive and didn't want to lean too much on rice or other foodstuff. Found that aquarium pebbles to be quite cheap and heavy, just need to sow many pockets to prevent them from moving too much.

I'd like to make or get one that really heavy. Like the lead apron at the dentist heavy. It just feels so good. They get expensive in the 30-50lbs range and are always sized for king beds and not single person so the weight is spread out.

Ooh, I need to try that!
