Learning Games for Kids

My friend's daughter's birthday is in a week-though timeliness is not exactly critical on this. She is turning 5 and would be starting kindergarten, which will now be virtual. I was wonder if anyone has any suggestions for games/books/stuff that are especially good for teaching reading around that age.

Specifically does anyone have experience with the Square Panda or Osmo stuff?

Ooh, I actually work for Square Panda so I can answer any questions about that one. I'm actually pretty happy to see someone mention our product in the wild. Is there any specific question I can answer? I think it's pretty awesome but I'm biased because it's my baby that I've spent a good chuck of the last 2 years or so on.

This is not screen stuff, but my daughter who struggled with reading really started getting it when we read through the Scholastic “First Little Readers” series.

They need to be read with a parent though. They aren’t something a child can enjoy on their own.
