Will a Celeron D work on any 478 Socket?

I took a Celeron 2.53 out of another computer and put it in an old Soyo bored and I get error beeps when I boot the computer up. I the mobo was made before Celeron D's came out.

    I think it depends on the type of Celeron it is. Are you sure the board and/or CPU is actually good?

    I don't know if the mobo is good or not but it was suppose to be working.
