Also the characters on Sabrina keep being like, you know, here in Satanist land, we’re all poly and monogamy is considered weird, wink wink, but then the show focuses exclusively on monogamous relationships

21st for a minute I thought those were your picks for GOTY, rather than the game you played most that year.

Or are they? Because there are some notable games missing on there.

Sabrina is actually a great example of how times have changed, how the satanic panic has ended, and LGBT themes have moved on light years.

That show has gay characters and queer orgies and a trans character (who gets a freaking supernatural dysmorphia plot line, what!) all while they show explicit satan worship and desecrate churches and shit.

So you'll have to excuse me if the El Paso Mild Salsa, totally chaste friendship with light homoerotic subtext between and angel and a demon isn't sending droves of teens to fanfiction.net anymore.

Thousands of hot, local singles are waiting to play at bubbulon.com.

Yes, those are my GOTYs, not my most-played.

For each year, i picked the highest rated game on my list of games i beat.

What notable games are missing? probably bad ones like Skyrim

Maybe this is just a symptom of me being the most lukewarm of lukewarm fuckers, but I actually quite liked Good Omens? It didn't set my world on fire but it was quaint and a nice enough way to burn a few hours.

Inexplicable that you'd put Papers, Please over Bioshock Infinite, GTA5, ME3, XCOM... even for indie games, that was the year The Stanley Parable was released.

Speaking of Mass Effect, there isn't a Bioware game on your list at all!

Man the good omens show filled me with happiness. It was just delightful the whole way through I thought. But I love the book so maybe I'm biased.

Also Sabrina is just mediocre. First season was okay, ending was weird, zero desire to watch anymore.

Like honestly making the jump to what's popular on FF.net is what gets you in trouble there, DK. All of that is super true about just watching the show, but like...

the Good Omens TV show has 1.1k stories, which doesn't include the 2k stories for the book.

Sabrina doesn't even have its own category, and Sabrina The Teenage Witch, which one might expect to have some Sabrina stories in it, only has ~350 stories.

I don't have a fanfiction degree like some of my esteemed compatriots, but my guess would be that 'light homoerotic subtext' is much more inspiring for fanfiction and fan-shipping than more explicit (in the 'clearly spelled out' sense, not the 'pornographic' sense) queer relationships.

I have all the Bioshocks, but have played like 45 minutes of the first one.

Same with Mass Effect. First mission, never got back to it.

I wasnt playing a lot of games when they are new, and by the time I could play them it's a whole trilogy with like a hundred hours of games and I don't want to slog through 9 year old games for weeks to get to the new stuff.

So much in gaming if you missed the zeitgeist just move on.

Skyrim, Black Flag, Sleeping Dogs, RDR, Half Life and Half Life 2, and both Portals, Neverwinter Nights, Doom, Quake, any Civ, Simcity 2000...

    Let's see.

Skyrim is ranked 132 out of 451. it's the 9th best game of 2016 (Hyper Light Drifter, in comparison, is 10th overall.) I didn't really like Skyrim very much, honestly. very middling. might be overranked in fact in it's current position.
Black Flag i didn't get to yet. I think i'll enjoy it, though. my next AC game is 3.
Sleeping Dogs i haven't touched yet, but i think i'll enjoy well enough.
Red Dead Redemption is ranked 84. It's the 6th best game of 2010, after Super Mario Galacy, VVVVVV, FFXIII, Bayonetta and Mass Effect 2. All games i can confidently say i enjoyed more, though RDR was quite good.
Never played Half-life one. literally no interest in playing it.
Half-Life 2 is 267th. it's the 5th best game but only because 2004 wasn't a great year. It's behind Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Cave Story, Viewtiful Joe and Tales Of Symphonia. All games i enjoyed a lot more than HL2.
Portal 1 is 69th, right behind the GOTY 2007, Super Mario Galaxy. Good game, for sure. Not my favorite from that year though.
Portal 2 is 48th, right behind the GOTY of 2011, Bastion. Same situation as Portal 1.
Never played Neverwinter Nights 1 or 2, though i intend to one day. i own them, after all.
0 interest in any doom, quake or even wolfenstein. I don't enjoy most FPSes. Not my genre.
Civ and SimCity would probably be ranked decently but they're not really games you beat so they're off the list. Though not 2000 since i never had that one (i had a computer late enough that my first Sim City was 3000.) Cities Skyline would definitely be in the top quarter if not top 6th.

Hopefully that answers your questions. :)

Didn't play Bioshock infinite. Don't own it, no interest in it. it's an FPS. I tried Bioshock 1, didn't like it one bit. it's even nulled in my list due to how little i wanna play it.
Didn't play GTA5. The only reason i have it is that Epic gave it away for free.
ME3 is from 2012, Papers Please from 2013. Same for XCOM, 2012 not 2013
Stanley Parable is the 3rd best game of 2013, after Papers Please and Fez.

Bioware games are fine but i don't think one of them ever wowed me particularly, unfortunately.

The Stanley Parable was okay but it spawned a billion more "who is really in control and what is a game really and what are you doing with your life, I'm so deep" games and then I was over it and retroactively annoyed about The Stanley Parable.

and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don't have them
