Really my complaint about the Sci Fi dune was it really went in for the pulpy sci fi look {Lynch did the proto grim dark look} Also the human butterfly sci fi did vs the slug Lynch did for the navigators
But I felt it flaked out as I wanted to see God Emperor of Dune and the worm done. I do not know how far they plan on pushing this movie. With the pandemic and such I felt it really threw a wrench into it as months ago when I started to see the merch I saw people hyping up the movie saying it needed to be seen in the cinema.

The movie likely will end right around the start of the rebellion. It’s meant to be a 2 parter
It is so weird to me that North America got a big sci-fi movie after other parts of the world. I'd expected to be late to the conversation, as usual, but instead I'm too early. It's very strange.

This is Denis Villeneuve.
It breaks my heart, but I understand a lack of faith in American consumers. They probably used international audiences to build up the hype.
Because people can, will, and are expecting Star Wars.
Can any lore experts tell me where the heat dissipates in a Stillsuit?
I assume it's used to keep you warm during the night when it's likely to be really cold (assuming that real world desert rules apply). Maybe stored in some fashion that's kinda handwavy? It's been a while since I read the book which I recall is a bit more detailed than either film on the workings of the suits.
The process by which sandtrout become miniature sandworms seems to involve the chemical splitting of water
I have a fan theory that this is the reason why Arrakis has a breathable oxygen atmosphere but it could very well be that Arrakis already had an oxygen-rich atmosphere before the sandtrout arrived
Alright, OK, I do got one big nitpick about the movie, which I'm just gonna go vent about.
Feyd-Rautha isn't in it. Guy's like the anti-Paul, one of the other potential Kwisatz Haderach candidates out there, he should've been in the movie. I know he doesn't really become prominent until the second half of the book, but he should've at least have a cameo. Maybe he could've been dismissed by the Reverend Mother instead of the weird spider person creature that was there for some reason.
Oh well. Maybe Paul's gonna end up duelling Rabban in the end.

I am going to see this tomorrow with my mum, who hasn't read the book or seen the Lynch film. Those who have seen the new movie, how much do I need to prepare my mum before she sees it, or has Villeneuve managed to make it accessible enough?

Guessing they are saving that character for part 2 as that character really doesn’t do much in the first half of the book.
I made it a third of the way into this on HBO Max last night before my neighbor interrupted me by talking on the phone right outside my door for some reason
I'm trying to think of I just want to start from the beginning again or not
The visuals are so freaking cool and stylish and it's good and moody

My goodness how could we ever have forgotten to mention the widely acclaimed Dune prequel trilogies, written by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert.

i remember them as being good, i should rewatch them
Sort of like every book.

I've read the book I think three or four times since, plus all the sequels
Tf
This is half better looking than the original and half eye-bleedingly awful
The Dune and Children miniseries are pretty darn good. They had hella budget for them

It’s bulkier than it appears in the movie.

It will indeed taste like thigh pad poo poo water
Unless Denis Villeneuve said that

Just saw the new Dune in IMAX
It is a fucking masterpiece. It's incredible. Genuinely one of the best cinema experiences I've ever had.
I think they even wear robes and stuff over the stillsuit
Might just get a month of HBO Max and watch it on my TV
Only wish I could get better sound out there

I'm going to see it in VueXtreme, which I think is Vue's version of IMAX, and I'm so hyped, so I'm really glad to read this.
