I feel like that's a consequence of mage being one of the original classes and very reliant upon gear for power. I wanted to play this with friends but the netcode is really terrible and we can't seem to make any progress at all zoning between areas without at least one of us disconnecting .
So we've shelved it, a shame as I had really enjoyed my time with it about a year and a half ago in the pre-release builds and had really hyped it up -- so rare to find a fun multiplayer arpg these days and so I do hope they sort it out eventually.

Today's lesson is that the tooltip will lie to you.
I'm level 98 with my Runemaster Lightning Blast build, and earlier today my tooltip was reading ~ 31K DPS on the skill. A two LP Fragment of the Enigma finally dropped, so I went crafted it, ended up with something like +elemental damage and some other affix. Then I pulled out my derpy one LP Mad Alchemist Ladle and decided to give them a test run.
My DPS dropped to ~ 10K, but my kill speed doesn't seem any different. In fact, it may be faster. Obviously the tooltip doesn't account for all those situational unique affixes, I just didn't expect them to make this much of a difference.
Right now I'm comfortable running ~ 160 Corruption, but I think I can push to 200 in the next day or so.
They released a hotfix today rolling back the cost increase on Despair Glyph prophecies. The actual patch notes are just a single line for that, but the Steam post with it has a fairly lengthy explanation of why they'd changed it in the first place, why they're reverting it, and just some more open insight into their thought and design processes.
Between the Stardew update making my wife want us to start up a new game together and Dragon's Dogma 2 coming out yesterday, I'm not sure when I'll be firing up LE again, but I've been really happy with how the game has turned out and how EHG have been handling things since launch.
Hm. The Emperor of Corpses is finally a boss that is giving me trouble on my Beastmaster.
It may be that I'm a bit lower level than the monolith suggests, but it's like... If I fail to notice the hue change that means the circle that precludes a bomb inside a couple seconds, I can't get out of the aura fast enough and I instadie. If he's breathing and I get too close from the side to keep hitting in melee, since for some reason the breath's hitbox seems to start from his middle instead of his head I instadie. The field progressively seems to get covered in crap that deals very respectable damage, so often when I try to move to reposition out of the rain of stuff, I get melted. And my buddies don't seem to do enough damage to get him down before the field is just a mess of pain.
I eventually beat it, but it must have taken like a solid nine goes.

Yeah, Emperor of Corpses is a gate check on movespeed and/or Traversal skills. You'll be thankful with some of the really heavy hitting boss AOEs later on.

Yes, it has me concerned because I only have access to one Traversal skill (jump) and equipping it would mean giving up either my Frenzy totem or some of the summons I use to, you know, actually fight. I have decent movespeed, I can get out of AoEs no problem as long as I see them in time, as said (just, when the entire screen is already kind of tinted off-white, sometimes it takes a few seconds to register it's MORE off-white now and oh shit), the problem quickly starts to be that I can't get in to hit in melee without getting melted and that even with what I *think* is solid movespeed if the entire ground is covered in pain and I have to run through it I end up getting melted. So if this is going to be the tone going forward it's probably going to be an issue!
Got there! lvl 100 on Falconer... now I can move for a while to another game. Gonna get Dragon's Dogma 2 I think.
I'm at 99, about 80% to 100, and you have so many more legendaries than me lol.
Maybe I am being too picky? I've been target farming catalysts and wands since hitting 90. I'm using what I've got, but at 200 corruption I'm starting to feel how much it's hurt my dps. I haven't quite hit the wall yet, but I'm close. And I can't really force the game to give me what I need at 3 LP. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten the same garage catalysts and at 2 and even 3 LP, but the one I'm looking for has only dropped at 2 once. No matter how many damn prophecies I run. And the wand I want only drops from exiled mages, so it's a bit of a crapshoot because I don't always find them in the zone I'm looking for. A lot of times it's easier to move onto the next place than search an entire map. But there doesn't seem to be an efficient way to do it.
Maybe this is where my build just tops out. My defenses are lagging just to keep up with my dps (I need cast speed, crit chance, crit multi, and elemental/spell damage) and if I've got one of those stats on an item, it's hard to be picky about resists. My ward generation and sustain is pretty solid but that's about it. Resists are pretty all over the place. I think my poison resist is 2%

All right, maybe spoke too soon. I did a little digging and looked at that guide I found for a similar build to mine. Switched a few of my idols and everything feels much smoother. Pretty sure I can push to 250 now, and focus on some other stats I need (more Int).
One thing I may have to think about is tweaking some skill choices. There is a particular Rune sequence everyone seems to use that generates an incredible defensive buff, Reowyn's Frostguard. Tons of ward and % damage reduction from it. Having another Oh Shit Button seems like a good thing to have.
Got my Spellblade through the campaign, felt fine by the end despite the rough first few acts. Was running melee again, mana strike+frost claw+lightning blast (not sure how often it was going off with my crit rate), plus ward and enchant, generating a ton of ward and covering everything in spark charges.
Maybe a bit too reliant on the cooldowns, but not helpless without them.
I guess at this point I should finish the set and run a melee primalist of some sort through.

I'm doing a spellblade right now too. I'm trying to make an ignite-stacking build that nukes everything with Enchant's Conflagrate node. All of my attacks are just going to cause tons of ignite and then i hit 100+ stacks I slam the button and everything explodes.
I'm not there yet but I saved a bunch of twink gear and I'm sailing through the campaign. I'll probably be able to do rifts right after I finish getting all the bonus passives and idol slots.
Been running marksman, mostly detonating arrow with the dragon flame conversion, the dragon bow (off an ascendent). Grew from puncture/flurry, hindsight suggests that is a bit red flag, since they tend to not get used much anymore. One shotted most trash with the shotgun, but hit a wall around ch9. Liandra was frustrating, lagon was a horrible slog, and the snake boss made me consider uninstalling. Just don't have quite the mobility or survivability for things that live longer then 20s or so but still need instant move or die.
Gave in to frustration, and switched over to a maxroll.gg leveling build, one based mostly on explosive mines. It's been effective, but doesn't feel quite as satisfying. Been working on monolith stuff to get the skills leveled back up after the big respec.
Saw some interesting builds around multishot or flurry, but they seemed to have been murdered by 1.0 changes to the ward on haste boots, and there was not a ton of other builds...
Any suggestions? Looking for something of a similar style to an impale/multishot setup from d3, which had ridiculous single target damage, and quality screen clear. Detonating arrow with the fire cone does pretty well on the clear most of the time, but puncture does not hold up.

Shadow dagger can do ridiculous single target damage if you ignore crit chance (since it always crits) and focus on crit damage, Dex and more/increased physical damage. I've made a blade dancer that used shadow daggers for single target and shadow cascade for clear, is probably still pretty good and a fun but squishy play style.
Well, I did the next two monoliths on my beastmaster, found a purple longsword with decent affixes, so I figured I'd try to run the LP2 engraver sword I'm using on the lower level spellblade through that temporal sanctum dungeon and make my first legendary.
So, after a fairly long and boring dungeon (because I'm level 80 and this is a level 55 dungeon so honestly I was falling asleep) that requires a key to open, I get to the boss, she starts an AoE circle, I'm like "alright, sure, jump to the side and run out", discover it seems to cover the area right to the edge of the part of the arena that is walkable, have a split second to go "wait, then how do you dodge this-" before the attack fires, die instantly.
I assume I was supposed to use the time swap thing? It didn't occur to me until after I got exploded.

Heh yeah same thing happened to me my first time through. You do indeed have to do the time swap thing.
The dungeon itself is pretty easy to get through once you're used to it -- skirt the edges and it never seems too hard to find the next area. Not sure if I'm getting lucky every time or if the layout is just fairly predictable as it's sped up a bunch once I started paying attention to that part.
I knocked out 4 legendaries for my alts in 10 or 15 minutes by skirting the edges and only moving inside when there's a wall to bypass -- it's a pretty low barrier for making end game items. Probably the best monster density in the game too if you swap between the timelines. It's a lot of fun once you're running the higher level versions, but yeah not crazy exciting when you're 30 levels above.

They don't do a great job of tutorializing the dungeon bosses in this game. Thankfully, keys drop really frequently--I've got an entire stash tab full of them.
The latest patch seems to have borked my loot filters. Currently the game just hides everything (literally everything) unless I hit the "show/hide filter" button (I think it's "x"), which resets the filter... for everything that's already on the ground. Whenever new things drop I have to hit the button again to activate the filter. I restarted a couple times but it didn't fix the problem.
I think they hotfixed that later in the afternoon. Saw chat light up about it, but it'd been working as expected for me all day, so ymmv.

Yeah I downloaded a patch shortly after posting and that seemed to deal with it.
Playing my lightning runemaster again. Did some rejiggering of skills and that's made me a lot tankier. Some stuff can still really put a hurt on me though. I could really use a Heart of Uhkeiros, but he's being stubborn about dropping one.

Some questions:
1) Is there a fast way to generate stability so I can fight bosses faster? I really need to farm Emperor of Corpses and I have to run so many freakin rift zones to get back up there.
2) If I have a prophecy from COF for extra unique drops from a particular boss, is the boss's unique item drop included in that pool?

1) Higher corruption generates more stability
2) No, boss uniques only roll when killing them, the unique drops from killing a boss are "prophecy" rolls therefore just subject to the standard unique loot pool.
Yeesh, melee Primalist/Druid is painfully bad in the early game, the worst thing I've tried playing by far. Upheaval is okay at best and I'll die multiple times to any dangerous pack even though I'm fully invested in what nodes were available for survival. Werebear seems kinda worthless, a straight damage loss even with investment to make upheaval+leap trees apply to maul.
Hopefully swarmblade doesn't feel terrible when I get to it and respec.

Oof. That's rough. I really need that Heart and it's not dropping at 250.

Hmm I forget how it felt early. I want to say I leaned on the pets and swipe until I had the points to line it all up… but I’m not 100%, it was a couple years ago.
I also didn't compare it to pure upheaval, but ya, I remember that werebear leap-slamming a 5-directional upheaval was really fun.

Huge defensive improvement already though.
That is some great luck there, congrats.
Circle of Fortune is behind the trading options in many ways, but the biggest is boss drops, as we have no way at all to speed it up, you just need to repeat the boss over and over (and do the lead up, whether that's the dungeon or the mono or whatever).
I just want one T7 throwing damage and reduced mana cost ring. I literally could not care less about any other affix as I can make up anything else on other gear. Every single prophecy goes towards exalted rings for me.

Yeah, it seems like a bit of an oversight if the prophesies that name a boss don't include the boss's drops in the reward pool. I get that they want certain items to be rare, but currently COF has no way of improving drop chance other than as you said, running the same boss over and over. And I wanted to do a solo self-found approach so I'm not complaining as I could even now switch to MG and start trading and improve my access to rarer items, but that's not how I want to play the game. However, I'd hope there would be some catch up to trading via access to more boss drops through the prophesies.
I don't think I realized how rare any LP on a Heart is until I started poking around the subreddit. That's probably all my luck for the year lol. Not that I would sell it, as I need it.
You can’t even reasonably switch factions. You’ll find that most of your items are tagged for CoF of a certain rank. So you’d brick yourself, while not being able to buy replacements yet from MG until you gained rank with *them*
GoodKingJayIIIThey wanna get mygold on the ceilingRegistered Userregular
Oh gross, I didn’t even consider how that would impact it.
Ah well. Would it make sense to an alt to be in a different faction? One thing I’m finding with my alts is that sharing Favor hurts the ability to target specific gear for specific alts. There’s basically not enough to share between them.
Eh, you're still probably better off being in the same one.
It can be a real bummer to find/buy something rad for an alt... only whoops they're the other faction. Or "wow this is cool it would sell for a lot... oh, CoF/can't be traded"
Even if you take a MG unique, and smash a CoF exalted into it.. The item then becomes a CoF legendary.
If you want to switch factions, the idea would be to make the alt in MG, rank it up and THEN switch over your main. Since the faction rank is shared.
But yeah, they *really* don't mean you to double dip the factions at all.
My wife and I picked this up last weekend and have been having a blast. This really sits in a nice place between some other ARPGs. One thing I'm not a huge fan of is the "death = loss" for monoliths and dungeons. Especially in a group.
I don’t really mind it in monoliths, I can ussually just branch off somewhere else without feeling too bad. But it makes me not want to run dungeons, specially dungeons of a difficulty I haven’t ran before. The dungeon is too much of a slog, and the difference in difficulty between the mobs and the boss feels way too large. I wonder how many people’s first T4 dungeons is a challenges slog through the dungeon into instant one shot by the boss.

I can do Corruption 300 without much problem but T4 Julra is kicking my ass. After 4 attempts, I finally gave up when the time jump bugged out and left me stuck with her and her screen-wide one-shot.
I didn't realize you had to do progressively higher tiers of the dungeon to craft higher-level items. That is... annoying. It wouldn't be quite so bad if running dungeons wasn't such a slog. I'm not really sure what else I can do to prepare for her because even through 6k ward most of her attacks 1- or 2-shot me.
I've always thought you should just be able to pay another key to respawn; it's stupid that you've got to grind through another nothingburger of a dungeon just for another shot at a boss that has poorly explained/telegraphed mechanics
they aren't complicated once you understand how they work, but julra probably kills almost everyone who goes into it blind and then you just gotta clear out the dungeon again

Whenever new things drop I have to hit the button again to activate the filter. I restarted a couple times but it didn't fix the problem.
Playing my lightning runemaster again. Did some rejiggering of skills and that's made me a lot tankier. Some stuff can still really put a hurt on me though. I could really use a Heart of Uhkeiros, but he's being stubborn about dropping one.

Ah well. Would it make sense to an alt to be in a different faction? One thing I’m finding with my alts is that sharing Favor hurts the ability to target specific gear for specific alts. There’s basically not enough to share between them.
But yeah, they *really* don't mean you to double dip the factions at all.

that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
I didn't realize you had to do progressively higher tiers of the dungeon to craft higher-level items. That is... annoying. It wouldn't be quite so bad if running dungeons wasn't such a slog. I'm not really sure what else I can do to prepare for her because even through 6k ward most of her attacks 1- or 2-shot me.
they aren't complicated once you understand how they work, but julra probably kills almost everyone who goes into it blind and then you just gotta clear out the dungeon again
