Opus: Echo of Starsong is the latest in a series that I am unfamiliar with in a genre (adventure) that I am not a huge fan of, but I am an absolute sucker for anything with mechanics or theme based in music. Anyone willing to sell me on it?

"every hour of gameplay is worth it" is exactly how i would describe opus: echo of starsong. we bitch about how games don't respect our time when opus is here all along??? no puzzle feels wasted, every random event builds up towards a better understanding of its worldbuilding

Think I'm getting close to the end of Bugsnax. Overall it's been... Okay. The actual gameplay has been pretty underwhelming, just a series of fetch quests. Catching the snax got repetitive quickly, I guess I expected more puzzle solving. The game is worth it for the writing and design though, very funny throughout and the snax are real cute.

It's pretty good if you like first person puzzle games ala Myst. It's very easy and straightforward, so if you are into being challenged it won't really do that. But I think the VA work for the main lady is pretty good and it's a pretty island and an ok story.

If you are trying to catch all of the 'Snax there's a few that require a bit more thought but yeah it's mostly just an excuse to explore and see the cute edible animals and interact with the incredibly written and acted Grumpuses.

I forgot to give props to Bugsnax for the casual non-binary representation, and I did appreciate that. I've played 2 good games this year with gender neutral characters. That's like infinity % more than in previous years.

Late last night, Apple informed Epic that Fortnite will be blacklisted from the Apple ecosystem until the exhaustion of all court appeals, which could be as long as a 5-year process.
I'm too dumb to really understand all the long-term ramifications of this in terms of marketplace freedoms/walled garden monopolies/etc etc, so I'm just extremely popcorn-emoji about this.

This is extra troublesome for Epic since some internal documents revealed they didn't expect to earn money from the store until 2026 or 2027 at the earliest. They need to keep that money from their Martin Luther King, Jr. Digital Museum rolling in.

I'm continuing to play through Control Ultimate Edition on the Series X. Still quite enjoying it! I unlocked Expeditions which seem... I dunno, I don't mind the combat in control, and it certainly looks good, but having a whole side thing built around one of the weaker parts of the game isn't amazing. But honestly, the fact that there's an Assist mode in the game is great, because I can just turn it on when I've tried something a bunch of times and breeze through something I've struggled with. More games should do that! Obviously it's probably harder to actually DO that, but I like that you can adjust various difficulty settings as opposed to just easy / medium / hard. It's great!
Still, that game has some atmosphere to it!

the completely naked disdain from the judge was absolutely the funniest part
Cackling over the judge not wanting to render a verdict which might affect all IP law in the US via cartoon videogame bullshit between two titanic private corporations.

Expeditions were free DLC I think, and it shows, because they have about the worst difficulty-to-reward ratio I've ever seen in a video game
I am again left wondering what, exactly, Epic expected.
Were they just high on their own supply?
Absolutely 100% yes.
Though my understanding is that Apple is now required to allow apps to have 3rd party payment options.
So well done to epic there. Shame they can't take advantage of it.
No worries, Epic was definitely the most concerned with increasing fairness and fighting monopolies from forming, losing this income won't bother them. Oh... for some reason it seems that is not correct, how strange...
If I understand correctly, you can't download Fortnite on iOS but if had downloaded it already, it still works? And you an still buy v-bucks?
I wonder what attrition Epic has seen through this. Not enough to sink them as a company I would imagine, but they've got to be seeing their projection numbers dipping as they can't expand their mobile footprint.

Do they not rely on the app store to push patches on iOS?

There was an average of 2.5 million daily iOS players, or 10% of Fortnite's total average daily players, according to the filing. iOS users spent more on Fortnite in-app purchases than their Android counterparts (as usual), but mobile players don't spend as much as gamers playing on consoles like Sony's PlayStation 4 or Microsoft's Xbox One.
10% of the users were coming in through apple devices, but some of those would also be players who were playing ( and spending money) on other devices
Sweeney owns more than 50% of the company, so he definitely gets to make the final decisions, but Tencent owns 40% of that company and I imagine they probably have a literal vested interest in Sweeney not tripping over his dick.
Maybe this was all tencent using epic to try to get some changes that could potentially make them billions overall because of how they dominate the mobile market esp in asia.
I say this as someone who knows almost nothing about the whole thing.

friends, do any of you happen to have a good source for pre-built gaming computers? My current rig is a bit elderly, and upgrading it would mean a new motherboard and such and that's more of a hassle than it's worth.
I know we have a whole sub-forum for this sort of thing, but I don't really venture out of SE++ and there are strangers there, so I thought I'd try here first.

Looking forward to the future of video games.
I just finished
I haven't had a ton of energy lately to play games is all. I do really like it still though. I just keep putting off playing more.
I'd say you are, like, 3/4ths of the way through?

Their plan was to utilize their horde of fans to put public pressure behind their lawsuit, hoping Apple would settle out of court.
It was a super dumb plan.
🧈 👃 hell yeah!
Don’t forget they had a PR blitz ready to go that was trying to strike tones of 1984.
But at the same time, fuck Apple.

They got 3rd party payments allowed. Just take that win, get back on the app store and direct as many people to your own payment platform as possible.
