In all honesty as a foreigner, Texas has been getting a little... scary

I was really deliberating how comfortable I was for a future PAX and well, I guess the decision was made for me

Gonna be putting some work into planning a PAX North for June-ish, should anyone be craving some forumer hangs and require a reason for a passport update; we'll post about it soon

yeah I'd definitely be down for some PAX North action

I never got to go on a ghost tour. That theater was ridiculously tall in the convention center. I had to go way up in the balcony one time.

Who needs ghost tours when you can just have @zonugal just try to break into random places and nearly lead you into some kitchen.

I will never forget the one PAX South I went to, where I ran into an old friend who had moved to Austin a few years prior, and he took us to this Mexican place on the Riverwalk that had a $40 burrito, but if you ate the whole thing, you got it free. It's the only food challenge item I've ever tried, and I defeated it, and like 3 chefs came out and gave me big old hugs and shit when all I wanted to do was find a nice gutter to lay in for the next several hours.

And then we went back to the hotel and played Cosmic Encounter for like 4 hours.

I've always wanted to go to a PAX ever since they started doing them but I've never gotten around to it because flights and hotels are expensive. PAX South would've been perfect since it's just like a 3.5 hour drive away, but I never got around to it either and now I guess I never will. ☹️

I hate San Antonio to my fucking bones and PAC South was one of my few comforts.

May the troops invade and liberate Texas.

I don't get "intimate con.". I favor the gargantuan party that is MAGfest.

I'm sorry, its called delving. When you are on a quest you must spelunk your environment.

Of course they ended pax south right when a top 50 texas BBQ joint opens within walking distance.

Anyways we could always just meet up there again when stuff has improved more without the pretext of a mediocre version of PAX.

I never did go up that tower next to the convention center.

  • KrathoonKrathoon Registered User regular
This is kind of irritating because this is the most convenient PAX for me.

I really hate that they didn’t make south into the tabletop convention and instead added another one in the frickin northeastern winter in an area that already has a damn pax.

I ain’t gonna go to philly in the cold. Texas weather is nice in January.

I get the public health concerns in Texas since you can’t institute a vaccine mandate but that wasn’t an issue when unplugged was started.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if there was massive overlap between attendees at East and Unplugged. Kind of annoying!

If PAX Unplugged would've been held in Chicago, St. Louis, or hell, even Geneva, WI, I would have gone in a heartbeat.

Yeah I don't care if the convention's not continuing because that was not the main draw for me to go. I wanna hang out with you nerds and do karaoke and breaking and entering

Who is gonna bring a friend, give her a crucifix, and then claim she’s their super-fundie girlfriend?

Is there a good convention center in St. Louis? I went to one, but the parking was not great. It was for Wizzard Con.
It think there is a St. Louis retro gaming convention somewhere.

Nah that post implies it was already on the chopping block even before covid because it wasn’t growing.

I'm guessing your hope would be better placed on a new PAX Midwest in some geographically appropriate Blue state.
But, with 4 PAXes still running, who knows how likely firing up a 5th again is.

Shoot, I know most conventions struggle to even get a second major event up and running sustainably
