So I just came back from graduation at Memorial Coliseum. I'm among the..I think, 129th graduating class of Benson High School.
I open up my little grad-book and find
"YOUR PORTLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS DIPLOMA WILL BE MAILED TO YOU AT YOUR HOME OVER THE SUMMER"
I'm fucking glad to be gone from such a shitty school. What a slap in the face. They let me walk, they said I was graduating....and I don't have my diploma.
So, anyways, anyone else graduated/graduating this year from HS?
It's a couple of weeks away yet, but I'm finally about to get the fuck out of this school system this year. Looking forward to it immensely. Now, if only the assignments would finally end... I've been getting way too much work for 4th quarter of my senior year.
I graduated from the University of Ottawa this year. I will be getting my degree in the mail, too, but that's because I'm too lazy to attend convocation.
Just graduated college. You think you're happy to be out of high school?
Hah. I laugh at the thought.
Worst years of your life are either the quarter-life crisis at the start of college (far more common than the almost mythical mid-life crisis) or right after graduation from college. They bracket some potentially really good years, but still. Real world? Sucks a lot.

I graduated from a tiny, Southern Baptist college.
Graduated last week though I decided to pass on going to the ceremony. To be honest not nearly as happy as I thought I would be. Hopefully graduating from college will be more satisfying.
I should fucking hope so, and it won't be. The degree is a badge of honor, but the ceremony is a few hours of the school masturbating to the sound of its own inadequacy. You'll work your ass off, but you won't feel any more proud of yourself than you will when you turn in that last 50-pager.
Im officially done with school on the 22nd, where my last exam takes place. This week is where all my finals are due so afterwards, all the work is basically done. Can't wait.
Woo! Got my BA in Digital Media, and now I hate all things artistic. I've gotten some programming skills but apparently HTML CSS PHP SQL Javascript XML Zend Studio and AJAX aren't enough these days. I might be hired by a company handling military training, which would be awesome.
Mom is putting pressure on me to start my own business. Now.
Well I hate all things business. In the fall I will return and attend their Air Force ROTC and start a Computer Engineering degree. Fuck art.
Go right into Post Secondary if that's your plan, unless it's not financially (or some other reason) possible.
Truth. Taking a year off between high school and university is just plain dumb, for so many reasons.

Graduating in two weeks. Teachers are cramming stuff in because finals are right around the corner. Also, there isn't any copying paper left in the school
I'm going to Governor's School during the month of July, which is like a month-long mini college experience. I got my packet yesterday, and goddammit, there isn't any air conditioning in the dorms. I'm going to melt.

Yeah. I've got possible gap year plans, but I'm putting them on hold at least until the student loans get paid off (only $10K, which isn't too bad considering what the numbers get to for some people).
Graduated college on the 20th, Madison Area Technical College. I loved the part of the ceremony when a state senator got to the mike and gave a shoutout to all the people watching live on Youtube and Myspace. I had to keep myself from laughing.

I have a new soccer blog The Minnow Tank. Reading it psychically kicks Sepp Blatter in the bean bag.

Can I ask why? Not that I'm considering it or anything, I'm just curious, since everyone I know who's done one has had a pretty positive experience.
You'll just find it that much harder to go to college at all, and if you do, the finances are drained from the travel, limiting where you can go. College goes first.

Of all the people I've known that have said "I'm just going to take a year off, then go to schoo," none of them have managed to succeed at it. One of them has managed to get himself into some shitty community school and is taking "culinary arts" because he used to be a line cook at Chik-fil-A, but he failed out.
Just finished 4 years at University (BEng Civil and Coastal Engineering) with the graduation ceremony in about a month. Might be back there next year to do a masters though, dont want to get into the 'real world' as of yet...
I graduated from high school on Thursday night.
It was awesome because I pulled an awesome prank involving a broken foot and a miraculous recovery onstage while getting my diploma.

I'm going to offer a dissenting opinion and say that you should definitely take a year off if you can. Travel if you've got the cash, or get a feel for the working world with some full-time employment. You might discover that more school isn't really what you want to be doing.
That said, I'm graduating in August. Having struggled through nearly 7 years of undergraduate education I can very safely say that higher education was not for me, but I didn't realize it until I was too far along to throw away all those years and all those credits.
I'm graduating next Saturday with my BA in chemical engineering. All I have left to do is write one more paper that is due tomorrow. I can't get motivated to do the dumb thing though. It won't take more than 2-3 hours, and I want to be completely finished, but I'm not good with biology and the class was on biotransformations.
I graduated high school today. Kinda boring ceremony, and we didn't even get our actual diplomas (have to go into school tommorrow to pick them up), but my 'rents took me and my girlfriend out for a really good dinner, so ultimately a win on the day.
Just graduated high school on Friday.
Most of us managed to get the old "give a penny to the principal" prank going, but some of the administrators took it upon themselves to confiscate said change... he still ended up with a few dollars in change though 8-)
The thing I found funny was that they wouldn't give us our diplomas until after we had shown them a ticket of proof that we'd turned in our robes; graduation robes as collateral? Jostens are a crafty people
Graduated from high school today... I hate superfluous events that are supposed to "honor" occasions because they are always really boring so I really wanted to skip graduation but my parents wouldn't let me. The highlight of the afternoon was my buddy's speech (he is one of our valedictorians) it was absolutely hilarious and I plan on putting it on YouTube tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure I made the right choice.
Im effing jealous....my parents are making me go to mine.
I can't wait for college...collegiate sports are gonna own.
I can't believe it's been 12 years since I graduated high school.
Like the OP, my diploma was mailed to me a few weeks later. I thought that's a pretty common practice these days.
