there's a fantastic interview with Richard Garriott starting on page 361 of this PDF that goes into deep, deep detail about the series' genesis and development and what he was doing with each installment, and he basically says this and expounds on each point in the section of the interview on each game
@desc and @spool32 and @Elldren and @RiemannLives might be interested in this read too
Number two for sure
Only potential non-chill I see on there is The Cars and tbh that would just be Ric
House all of them
Let's play Mario Kart or something...
1, 2, and 4 are next-door neighbors and their houses are identical
1 is you, and maybe you should go to therapy
2 is your very cool older sister who smokes pot with you
3 throws the best parties
4 is your obviously gay cousin but it’s the 80s so he’s not out even though we all know Roger isn’t just his “roommate”
5 is your meathead older brother
6 is your very boring dad
7 is your mom and she smokes pot but lies about it and still votes for Reagan
8 is your little brother who is suspended from middle school for calling the principal a “cock-eating fascist”
9 is some weird foreigner, vaguely European, wears turtlenecks in the summer, drives a SAAB
Kratos contemplates the time he was cringe

Unpacking - this game is the definition of refined. The concept is basic (you’re unpacking), the scope is limited, but within that framework it is a polished game, where polish goes beyond the mere absence of bugs to deeply considered art and sound design. Best game about unpacking I’ll ever play
Boyfriend Dungeon - kinda throwaway, and I’m glad I didn’t play it right after Hades, but the backlash it faced is inexplicable now that I played it. Not enough girlfriends.
Yakuza Kiwami - probably already talked about it,
What Remains of Edith Finch - I’m not usually one for fiction-free, diorama-like games but maybe my problem is that they’re mostly surprisingly conservative with their concepts. Edith was an original ride that I was very much down for except for a couple of a couple of very upsetting pieces
Sable - I didn’t think I’d get back to Sabe or finish it, but I did both. I loved this game since I saw the first trailer, and I wish it was easy to recommend. It stutters all the time, has seconds long hitches, had tons of bugs at launch and I don’t know how many have been fixed, and I love it because when it runs well this is what it looks like
The puzzles are easy and I didn’t need more of them than an excuse to poke around, it’s mercifully restrained with quests and each one is basically guaranteed to send you to a new location where you needed to climb to the highest point or went into a cave to scare a giant beetle into shitting for you. It has no combat whatsoever and I’ll played it for nearly 20 hours, climbing stuff and finding new outfits.
More games should try looking cool as fuck.
Also played Sekiro, and then stopped playing Sekiro. Might get back to playing Sekiro and die, idk
So it's recorded new personal bests for every distance below 5km
Feels like when you get a cheevo because the game glitched
*sigh*
Way too many studios doing half-assed realism looking like the uncanny valley
Truly there is no justice

My Garmin watch has been kind off lately, and there are parts of the city where the satellite GPS just loses the plot completely and once told me that 11 miles into a 14 mile run, I somehow logged a 6 minute mile, and gave me a fastest mile record
Girl y u lying
I was holding out on all the Black Friday/Christmas sales for a new model that I hoped Garmin would announce at CES but instead they just announced new high end watches and not my perfectly servicable mid-range watch so idk I guess I’ll just go fuck myself

Elki hello how it do

I saw an ad for solar ash and it looks pretty af but is it any good? That’s my issue with a lot of pretty indies, sometimes the glam is just a facade for not that engaging gameplay

You know, etc. Somewhat recently made the mistake of agreeing to get into some kind of business with family and handle all the paperwork for it. It’s going ok now, but if you’re ever in need of some greys I highly recommend it, 100% guaranteed to work.
Baseball. New York Yankees.
But the real answer is Gritty who transcends all sports.
Gritty is love.
Gritty is Neco.
king shit
I've been using RunnerUp, which can auto-upload to strava but is much more flexible and has configurable gps polling.
But some android update seems to have broken it such that pressing the "start recording" button just ... does nothing, so I'm back to using strava directly.
It's deeply frustrating because it is a far superior app.
Except House 9. Not much music knowledge there other than the fact my dad was in the same class as one of the members of Sister Sledge when he went to Temple U the first time around.
Bruh I’m kind of (not really) a lawyer now. I have white hairs to share.

I don’t use Strava. Neither does beast. Watch GPS only. Running apps are all worse GPS trackers than the cheapest watch IMO. If you’ve been running for 1+ yr I say treat yo self and upgrade to some dedicated hardware

my body knows it’s sinned and is making me pay
For me, runnerup is firmly in "good enough" territory. Mostly I use it because it has a really good interface for setting up audio pace prompts and interval sessions.
I just think it's interesting that strava's gps recording is noticeably worse than runnerup's.
