I have an eggsitential problem

DrezDrez Registered User regular
I need help understanding this.

Egg Beaters brand liquid egg whites lists 3/4 of a cup of their liquid egg whites as the equivalent of the whites of 4 large eggs.

Bowl & Basket brand liquid egg whites lists 1/2 of a cup of their liquid egg whites as the equivalent of the whites of 4 large eggs.

Since the base element of both measures is pure egg whites, I don't understand this paradoxical difference in measurement.

Is this because I only took math up through Calculus 3 in college? Is this a problem that involves quantum mechanics? I have not delved too deeply into the math of time travel, but is that necessary? I've watched Primer. But I've also watched Hot Tub Time Machine and I feel like those two movies cancel each other out.

I really need help understanding this. I can barely sleep while the implications gnaw at me and my psyche.

Please help me.

'Large' isn't actually an SI unit. Problem solved.

They all convert the units correctly, i/e 16 TBSP = 1 Cup, it's just that one claims a large egg white is 2 tbsp and one claims it is 3 tbsp. A large egg is typically 2 tbsp egg white and 1-1.25 tbsp yolk.

Large eggs are defined as having 24 oz weight per dozen eggs.

My backup suggestion was going to be breeding metric chickens.

This is why I ignore all of it and use weight measurements. Even when it comes to liquids, I convert whatever volume in a recipe to grams.

Volume measurements are stupid for cooking.

They also breed spherical frictionless cows.

Does the carton even say "Chicken Eggs"? A large chicken egg pales in comparison to the size of a duck egg. (And creaminess, I might add)

    Good question, I dunno.

What I decided though is that the "correct amount of egg" is whatever I want it to be.

    Is THAT an SI unit?

It says "CAGE FREE*" on the front.

And next to the asterisk it says "Demogorgons are free roaming inside a barn."

So I guess it's Demogorgon egg whites.

No, wait...it says "Hens" sorry. I thought it said Demogorgons.

Hens or Hans? If it's the later I'd make sure it's not the Gruber variety. They don't do so well with falls.
