room temp Dr P and whiskey is like a backwoods tin-cup manhattan.

I've been putting tarts into the meecrowavé because I don't own such mindless bourgeois indulgences like toasters, and the heat alone really adds to the pleasure

    I'm a goddamn Alton brown

I have an oven but in practice it's a storage space for old law school texts

Also are you implying I should be using it? For toaster strudels?!

I would guess probably 95% of the poptarts I have eaten in my life were untoasted.

Besides just being a simple grab and go snack or a snack when you are away from home and in a hotel or a tent for a festival... I honestly like most of them better untoasted?

Like sometimes its nice for a cherry one to mix it up. But even then most the time I'd prefer cold.

You could do that once, sure. Get 'em just barely frozen, and put the dial all the way to the right.

poptarts room temp taste really bad to me. its whatever shortening they use in the pastry. gotta be either frozen or toasted. room temp tastes a bit like play-doh

    Pop Tarts are better cold.

    Toaster strudels are better warm.

    Both are better with milk.

Took this week off, since Friday I get older. This week's accomplishments, so far:

    * Finished Use of Weapons, and started The State of the Art.
    * Woke up not at 6 am.
    * Sat outside.
    * Dealt with minor financial administrative stuff I've been putting off for months.
    * Cooked for first time in a while.

Maximum do as little as possible.

No one should buy pop tarts. Toaster Strudels 4 lyfe

Don't tell me it's some rich people shit either. I got 10 for 2.50 the other day.

    Those (essentially) require toasting though.

Poptarts you just grab and munch.

    They serve different purposes!

Cooked poptarts are bad. Uncooked poptarts are fucking horrendous and last time someone tried to feed me one I thought I might die after a few bites.

I'm not a picky eater. Pop tarts are just that bad.

As a Dr Pepper love and whiskey ambivalent, I’m intrigued by this drink….

We are just prepping for the BBQ Cookoff my family does every year. We are defending the title this year so big important! Wife decided to go with smoked bbq pork belly but we disagree on how to serve/garnish…. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Also books in the oven is fine if you never use either!

It’s kinda hard to mess up lemonade

Just don’t add anything that isn’t a fruit

    no water, no sugar

    check

A real pro move is steeping the lemons overnight in chicken stock before adding the molasses

Don't forget the Hellman's mayo. Adds a nice bit of cloudiness.

Such a common southern trash drink to put Southern Comfort directly into the can of Dr Pepper

Also interesting that Dr Pepper has become the de facto Southern soda despite it originating from West Texas and Coca-Cola being legitimately southern

All jokes aside, my lord father has a nasty habit of sneaking smokes by puffing in the kitchen with a pilot light as his flame, so if you ever hear of an inferno in Hell's Kitchen, it was the fault of my father and not me
