I'm not a routined hand at restaurants but words to the effect of "here's some champagne" will activate every neuron and have me on my feet about to fistfight a waiter on 0.7 seconds

unfortunately the dinner was for my gf's birthday so i just got to solemnly nod as they added things to the bill

to be quite fair, everything apart from the champagne was absolutely worth and well advertised as an extra

hat's the button between the scissors and and DEL on the top one?

I'm guessing the scissors button is Cut, although I've never wished for a dedicated Cut button.

Apparently it's Page Down? The scissor button takes a region screenshot in macOS, maybe fullscreen screenshot in Windows. Don't use either of them, the actual shortcuts for screenshots are firmly in my muscle memory.

Increasingly apparent that I just use ebay like the kind of hardware store that has everything, and which doesn't really exist anymore

    Recent purchases:
    - heavy gelcoat cutting compound
    - a velcro backed handle for dual action polishing sponges for places you can't get to by machine
    - 65mm brass hinges
    - spare spirit level bubbles
-replacement M3 mandrel for a rivnut setting tool

I love that no matter how niche there is someone selling it for a couple of quid with free postage

Awesome!! I hope you get some stomach rest and can keep enjoying. The apothecary people in Greece are really nice and will give you whatever you need and are super knowledgeable. I'm always on loperamide and electrolytes and a low grade NSAID on holiday. 😭

hah yeah, I'm like, ok, next time I travel, bring immodium (and how did I not remember that anyway given the guts disaster of the amazon rainforest, circa 2013--well tbh that's a long time ago at this point)

...but actually all of my despondence has been cured by the fucking T shot, and a lot of this doom/de-energizing was about hormone cycles instead. And now I'm like woooooo let's goooo

what kind of moron remembers on vacation to submit a short story to a magazine with a limited submission window that is only open during said vacation, but does not remember a literally weekly obligation that happens on the same day every week and has drastic mood effects --> me, apparently

You can more or less fit out a house with eBay these days, its true. I use the little local hardware store occasionally but it is expensive and poorly stocked at the best of times.

Someone is selling a sailing dinghy, with all the bits (including a trailer) for £500 near here. This is categorically not the moment to be taking on a new thing but at the same timmeeeeeeeee

I am filled with a growing and inescapable sense of dread, but I know exactly why, it's because I am headed to IKEA

Going there with my sister was a far cry from going with my parents, which is something that drives me absolutely fucking crazy, but still

It is a really fucking annoying store

The new trailer for the Interview with the Vampire TV show looks to be a radical departure from the first film

    - moves the timeline up about 100 years to the early 20th century
    - makes the gay subtext just text about gay subs
    - Lestat has a French accent
    - Louis and Claudia are black

    Oh a Snipe!

Biggest dinghy class in norway among the adult classes

Two handed and, well, for adults, so pretty decent space in them

The work you might need to do is probably going to be relatively simple though

Fiberglass repairs are simple and something you'd need to learn with it anyway, and I imagine the rest would just be screwing things onto it, replacing tackles and hoops and such

    I say go for it

I was cleaning out my Google docs/Google sheets tonight and found an old list of weights. The heaviest I ever recorded was 335. I’m 225 tonight so I guess I’ve lost 110 lbs 🤷‍♂️

Yeah the sprites are not great but they are serviceable and for a Tactics Ogre remaster Ill shut up and take what I can get, especially when everything else looks good.

Tbh this is pretty much how I use ebay

Anytime I run up against something like this, just order it. Random bits of hardware, replacement parts for electronics, self adhesive velcro tape, etc.
