I read a book years ago called “Marching Powder”. It was about a black English drug mule who got caught and thrown in jail somewhere in the South America. Ended up running English speaking tours for visitors to make ends meet. Anyway, he nearly got murdered almost immediately because folks thought he was African american, and a lot of the folks in jail there had been deported from the US
