    Windows Snipping Tool and https://frzyc.github.io/genshin-optimizer/#/artifacts

I've been using it mostly for evaluating artifacts but it's got a bunch of other features under the hood

neat tool.. annoyingly all my artifact screenshots i took in the past, were from the wrong screen that it can't read ;p

my alhaitham set went pretty hard, he's sitting at 80% CR / 161% CD now. feels pretty strong.

also, since i had to look it up.. here's the most recent infografics for character materials

Speaking of artifacts, went and dumped a bunch of useless ones into the strongbox. Chose Crimson Witch because I'm lacking good Pyro options and I do have Hu Tao now. Surprisingly I actually got two decently-rolled pieces which is kind of annoying considering I've been doing Desert Pavilion/Gilded Dreams/Blizzard Strayer daily (not all at once, just whatever I feel like) and still haven't managed to get more than one okay piece per set.

    4oTt4mP.png

These aren't the greatest, and I'm not going to try for the greatest, but Hu Tao likes all of those stats and I didn't roll into flat attack more than once which is a win in my book.

    what's "the strongbox"?

Crafting table, the third tab. You pick a set, throw in three other 5 Star artifacts, and out pops an artifact from the chosen set. You can load in multiples at once for efficient recycling in bulk

    Where's the crafting table?

There's one in every city, it's the alchemy thingy. You've used them before, right? If not, let me tell you about Condensed Resin ...

... come to think of it, you could sort of play the game even without crafting anything but it would certainly make talent materials, weapon materials, character ascension materials etc a whole lot more painful to get.

on the flip side, if you've been blissfully ignorant of the crafting table then there's probably a treasure trove of green mats..

That was annoying - I happily caught the last fish needed for The Catch, went over to redeem it and… I got the fish count wrong and only had half of them.

    Bummer.

oh yeah I know that, I just thought it was called the alchemy table. MIne doesn't have a third tab tho... yet

Assuming it was the breath attack that pops up a warning message about shields (where it aims straight down), the only thing I can think of is that the shield wasn't strong enough to absorb the hit. That's usually not a problem, though, because the power of that attack is reduced drastically when you have a shield. I guess the other possibility that your shield just happened to run out before you got hit, which is unfortunate.

I think shield element matters for that attack?

it matched the attack element, both were water. how do i change a shield element on him? all i got was his own element he was at the time

I recommend Noelle for that boss, as her Geo Shield should always work.

  • The WolfmanThe Wolfman Registered User regular
I've never really paid attention to it because I no longer really have to. But I'm reading the boss page here. But my understanding reading the attack is:

-The attack does dramatically less damage to a shield as opposed to getting hit naked.
-It's still possible for the attack to break your shield if your shield sucks.
-A geo or matching element shield is best, but any shield will work.

If you think you're going to be farming the thing for a while, you might want to consider leveling up Noelle. You should have her if you rolled on the beginners banner with her. Her weapon doesn't matter, ust give her any junk artifacts that have defense on them, and only bother leveling up her shield talent. Lv 40 should hopefully be enough, because any higher requires fighting the geo cube boss.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of doing since her shield is always Geo and when I use Ningguang her shields are whatever element the critter is using

  • XantusXantus Registered User regular
i always used beidou for that boss since her shield is a pretty low cooldown. diona also

also, is it worthwhile to accept join requests? i usually do when i'm farming at temples or whatever they're called and then try to do the harder levels but is it any use otherwise?

I've got it set to reject join requests, and barely ever join anyone else's world. Co-op can definitely be useful for more than a few reasons, though, but there's not really any merit to allowing random people in your world, outside of being nice and letting them loot the materials that they need.

It sounds like you may be counting on the geo crystallize reaction. Pretty sure that's not what the ability is looking for.

A shield is a shield, right? I've never used crystallize shields for that fight but they should work. The only problem is that they have crappy hp (and that the boss has high geo resistance).

and oddly weak to large monsters. cruel joke by hoyo that the shards often drop in the very middle of giant lizard bosses.

dying while desperately dashing into the ass of a beast just trying to get closer to that shield precious... (geo supremacy?)

  • MadicanMadican No face Registered User regular
Geo as it is remains a baffling design decision. Let's take this combat system reliant on elemental reaction chains and add this one element that doesn't really do reactions. Nothing can go wrong with that idea!

There's a reason that aside from Zhongli you really only use Geo units with other Geo units because they need the resonance

  • The WolfmanThe Wolfman Registered User regular
I prefer to look at it like... screw your elemental reactions. I'm just going to throw a rock at you.

Noelle can lift a fully loaded bookshelf with one hand without trying. She doesn't need reactions to cut you in half, her sword needs reactions to survive the swing.

It's both a plus and a minus that geo characters can just go lolelements, but that's kind of supposed to be physicals niche I'd think.

ehhh, technically yes but I also think Geo requires some of the biggest investment for a very niche role. Noelle for instance basically demands C6 if you intend to make her the main DPS of a Geo team, to do so she also has to be used with other Geo characters for the resonance that will not be used in any other team (except Zhongli), and if you don't want to use Noelle as the main DPS then unfortunately Geo's other options are all limited banners like Itto and Albedo. Not even a token standard banner 5 Star for Geo.

Geo can push out the numbers for sure, but when you build for Geo pretty much everyone on the team will only be used for Geo, so there's a major loss of utility.

Farming EXP leylines for books because any other EXP is incredibly trivial to the point I had my supports at one level below max every time my World Level increased and not once did they ever max out from earned EXP or even get halfway

You can buy books (and resin once per week) with the teapot currency as well but in general you aren't going to get any meaningful amount of xp from anything else besides using resin and events. I guess chests have some books in them too if you have big unexplored areas.

    Yeah this.

You get 160 resin a day, and leylines cost 20, so you can do 8 a day.

Blue leylines give you exp books, yellow leylines give you mora.

So if you need to level characters, do these depending in what you need, since levelling costs both.
