was set up for an incredible finish where the game was going to be decided on the field and instead the refs make it a show about them so we can anoint the star qb

It's just a bummer to see what was otherwise a great slugfest between two really good teams end on a call that will be the only thing anyone talks about when this game comes up in the future.
That was 100% defensive holding and the refs will call it 100% of the time they see it, but the reason it feels bad is cause the penalty for defensive holding is massive and the rule itself covers a ridiculously wide range of actions in terms of how much it impacts the play.
Like, the fact that "barely grabbing the jersey for .5 seconds at the line of scrimmage" and "literally bear hug the wide receiver" are the same penalty is the real issue here

Except they didn't call it 100% of the time and I challenge anyone to watch that whole game and not find at least 5 instances of it happening without a call
They specifically only called that because they knew it would decide the game. They inserted themselves.

Yeah, funny thing is KC had all the momentum. They probably score there and the Eagles would have had a hard time with the short clock matching. Could have been a pretty good game overall.
Worse, now instead of the shitty field as the main talking point from this game, the game deciding bad call will be.

Honestly? Fuck Fox. They didn't show the part of the hold that was actually egregious and clear. Instead they showed the part that lets Olsen go, "yeah jee idk maybe let them play the game" which just fuels the "bs game-deciding call" vibe. Because it was also a big impact penalty that fundamentally just sucked the air out of the end of the game

are the refs inserting themselves into the game in the room with you right now?
chiefs fans are the new pats fans in their ref delusion. sure is wild all the calls go their way so consistently when it matters
The offseason is going to be full of Chiefs fans rationalizing that sequence of events in a really unseemly way, like the rest of us didn't actually see what we plainly saw. But that is one fanbase that is particularly practiced and adept at rationalizing so they'll be doing what they love.

The Eagles possession prior to this featured a 45 yard pass and many successful QB sneaks, I would have liked their chances

I do not give a single shit about the chiefs

Okay maaaybe we should dial it back a notch.
Every fanbase is the worst fanbase in all of sports, let alone their own sport.
Can I not just be upset that that call negated what could have been a ridiculously exciting ending to an otherwise great game without giving any shits about the rule?
Cause irrespective of the rule, that it happened fucking sucks

There is no point on arguing by the letter of the law as if they did that on every hold the game would be un-watchable.
Yeah, but then you have the Eagles with 1:40 and 3 timeouts, not 4 seconds and 0. It was a game deciding call.
I am very familiar with this look.

The fumble 6 was the biggest misstep by either team. Only turnover of the game and kept it close in the first half.

I used to say stuff like this when the Pats were the team to beat!
Welcome to being the main character, it's not a ton of fun.

You don't understand. That man was high asf and running like the end zone was a Taco Bell
Dip, but you do you.
