Yeah if I'm complaining about exodos its specifically about using it with mister. Flynnbit's top300 and shareware packs are more curated/tweaked and what I would recommend for now.
I don't get why the creator of Gabriel Knight will not just write a fourth game. She already had a pitch for it in the third game.
The people on the PlayStation core on the MiSTer do this annoying thing where they primarily support Redump versions of games. I had this one problem where there was no music in Silhouette Mirage because it was a dump I made myself. The game runs totally fine in Duckstation.
If Duckstation has no problem running almost any dump of a game, they can also support that.
I saw this article about the WiiU bricking from lack of use https://exputer.com/news/wii-u-memory-error-long-period/
This might not be the right thread for this, but since people use the WiiU for playing retro games and it will one day be retro, people here might want to know to power it up once in a while.
I don't think it's been that long since I last used mine, but... damn.
Hey, remember when Nintendo made quality hardware that lasted?

Is this an issue with the flash memory? It would make sense. If the battery is totally dead, eventually the flash memory is going to start losing data. It's one of the weaknesses of solid state storage over magnetic and optical storage, bit rot eventually starts just because of the lack of power.
I got my WiiU hooked up as component to free up a HDMI slot. It looks the same.
I did run into HDMI having overscan on my Emuelec system. I think it is the device because the MiSTer does not have overscan.
I may play Pikmin 3 on the WiiU because I am too cheap to get the Switch version.
I remember there being a video chat app on the WiiU, but it was basically useless since you could only talk to other WiiU people, and there was never more than one WiiU in any given friend group.
It's kinda weird that Skype never seemed to get any mainstream appeal in a world that clearly loves video calls. I mean, FaceTime is hugely popular. But Skype was seen as strictly for nerds outside of needing to use it for work purposes.
One of the few times I ever got my mother to play a video game(that wasn't wii sports) was the shareware version of Doom I way back in the 90s. She actually made it all the way to the two barons at the end of episode 1!

My mother (born in 1953), who got a degree in Classical Chinese literature (that she did not end up using) would never stand for one of these things (the fundamental need being her to enjoy it); she doesn't even necessarily enjoy certain kinds of films (though to my dismay, she became semi-addicted to those terrible mass-production Hallmark films despite not celebrating Christmas as a child, or maybe because of that), so it's not surprising that a deliberate immersive video wouldn't appeal to her. When I was in my early teens I tried to get her to play SimCity 2000 and that didn't work either.
The closest I ever got was getting her to play a little of Dear Esther (which is almost a tailor-made video game for her; she loves melancholic Scottish literature, and she could never complete any sort of timing-based actions), and while she thought it was beautiful, she hated using a keyboard and mouse for movement. I wonder if a gamepad would be more intuitive to her.
I once tried to get my Mom to play video games through Super Mario Bros. on the NES. She got through 1-1 but then she felt a mosquito bite her on her back. Big sucker and I was able to swat it. She got up and left the room to treat the bite but never came back to finish the next stage. She never touched a video game again.

My mom and I would always make it an event when a new Quest game came out. She would let me start home from school and we would play together all day. I still remember when King's Quest II came out and we finished it in like three hours. She was so disappointed it was short, but I didn't care, it was fun.
My mother used to come home every night from her shitty food service job and play SMB3 and Donkey Kong Country to blow off steam. Thirty years later she can't play video games because they bring back bad memories of those days.
I was going to try this out with a MiSTer. https://youtu.be/XHM-gW1UFw0
I ordered a zapper and a USB adapter.
It is important to note that you use a third party zapper. The original does not work.
The screw holes were pretty tight on that case. For a moment, I thought they would not line up.
I got this electric screwdriver that works great. It is like a mini drill.
My Analog I/O board is black while the rest are blue. For some reason, the usb board has a cable on it to hook it to the Nano board. It is like an older usb board.
I blew some money on a SNAX adapter even though they are overpriced. A birthday gift to myself. I was mainly going to use it for the NES Zapper and maybe some other Zappers. https://youtu.be/Tf6PLozv36s
The Mister is also supposed to have Guncon support. It also sounds like there is a way to hook up a WiiMote and have the same effect.
You just need a generic bluetooth adapter to pair a wiimote and have it act like a gun. And then a generic $10 USB sensor bar replacement that you can power via your TV. It then creates a red cursor you can aim around the screen. It feels like cheating in NES games like duck hunt, but I think? its closer to how the menacer and super scope worked, which typically create crosshairs in-game.

Oh. Yeah. Seems like all the games on it run great, but on the MiSTer, not so much.
Really, they need to make the ao486 core better.
This one has lists of top games and favorites. So, it is more curated. It is called the MegaAGS pack.
I just found a more recent version of it.
It's like something that fell from an alternate universe into ours.

Really, the Wii is more reliable than the WiiU. I would recommend the Wii for modding.
I guess they got worried that pedophiles would start using it. That is kind of the problem with kiddie devices like Nintendo.

It didn't?
I thought I used it right around launch. Some sort of video chat, anyway.
...unless you mean "happened" as in "caught on in a big way."

Edit: Here you go.
The case is a bunch of panels that slot together. It was actually pretty easy to put together. You essentially build it around the MiSTer.

I've never heard of this game before but this soundtrack slaps.
