Not sure if it's really old enough to belong here but for whatever reason my son decided he wanted to play Wii Sports. My wife bought a $6 sensor and we hooked everything up and it worked! We did have to use an older TV since the cables we have are A/V which our newer bigger TV does not support. He enjoyed it a lot. I forgot I had Super Mario 64 from the virtual console. Might have to spend some time with it.

You can get an adapter to switch the RCA into HDMI, they're not expensive.

I actually just ordered one off Amazon last night. It was super well reviewed and only $10 so I am not worried about the image quality. While we were getting the Wii out though I noticed my Dance Dance Revolution pad and realized I just not played in a long time. I think it's starting to have input issues so I looked into getting a new one. Konami of course quit making them a long time ago but there are a few third party offerings. Unfortunately not for the 360 because Microsoft required those controllers to have security chips. Looks like I can buy a $45 adapter that will let me plug in one of the USB PC mats though. Tempting.
The Wii is as old now as the Super Nintendo was when the Wii came out.
And I remember people calling SNES retro at least a few years before the Wii came out. Though at the time, there was a clear divide between the 2D pixel-art era and the 3D games that became the focus. Gaming hasn't really had a huge shift like that since. It's just been kind of refining things gradually.
Now the line between retro and modern is entirely arbitrary, as there is no firm definition of how many years have to pass before something is retro. It varies from person to person. And sometimes people just don't want to acknowledge just how old they've gotten. "Wii can't be retro, because that would mean I'm old."
I want to tell myself that the PS3 isn't retro, but I do own the component cables so I can play it on a CRT, which is where it mainly lives...
My mum was stuck on using this old HDTV that pre-dated HDMI altogether, and the PS3 I got in 2015 or so was by far the easiest Blu-ray/streaming box with component output to use with it.
Although it could do games at 720p on that TV, I'm pretty sure it downscaled Blu-rays to DVD-level 480p. They were still watchable though and that was the main thing.

Blu-rays being downscaled to 480p over component seemed to happen with the CECH-3000 models, somewhere in the middle of the slim's life. My George Foreman grille phat meanwhile can play them at up to 1080i.

Nice. Mine is a slim of indeterminate age (I was given it for nothing; one of its USB ports is completely dead and the other is extremely unreliable, and it didn't come with a controller) so that would explain it. It made sense to me with DRM being what it is though.
It's still running fine, but doesn't see much use these days. I picked up Heavenly Sword on a whim a while back though, so I should hook it up and give that a whirl at some point.
A truck that uses the Unreal Engine for its dashboard displays? Fuck off. The future is so dumb.
I can't wait for the hellscape that will be a world where you can't go to the grocery store because your car's firmware needs to be updated and you can't update it because you can't remember your MyNissanRewards.com password but it doesn't really matter anyway because your fridge was hit by a ransomware attack so now the doors won't open until you send 0.00361 Asscoins to some guy in eastern Europe so you call your boss and tell him you probably won't be able to make it into work tomorrow and he says its not a problem since your position has been replaced by ChatGPT and you decide to sit down and watch some TV to make yourself feel better but the remote doesn't work because you forgot to pay the $9.99 Remote Control Service Fee this month so you just decide to lay down and starve to death on your couch.

What makes you think you'll be able to afford the couch rental fees?
I'm not upset that they're calling my Playstation 3 retro. I'm upset that it's been dying for the last 4 years.
I read this as you were dying for the last 4 years and had to read your post again. Well, technically I guess we're all dying since we're not getting any younger, and this is the retro thread but still!

On the up side, think of the value for the shareholders.
I was playing Lemmings on SNES earlier and was really digging the soundtrack. The fourth level has a great track called "One Way or Another" that sounds like a sped up Depeche Mode song. I checked out the Amiga and PS1 versions and they're even better than the SNES track.
After being impressed with some of the music for Amiga, I decided to test it out on my MiSTer. If you have a similar interest, I'd recommend Amigavision (aka MegaAGS) which seems to do a very good job of presenting a nice frontend for all the games and doing all the settings ahead of time. I grabbed v2022-11-11, copied the contents of the config folder to the config folder in the MiSTer, did the same for all the contents inside of games/Amiga to the same in MiSTer, and it's running brilliantly.
Amiga is where trackers/mods started, using the 4-voice sampler in the Paula chip. Lots of great music not only in games, but also the demos you can watch in amigavision, or just as stand-alone mod files.
Lemmings is originally an Amiga game so naturally it has the best version of the music! The whole concept was to see how many little sprites they could push around with the Amiga blitter. When they ported it to the Atari ST, rather than rewrite all the drawing code for that platform, they just plugged in a software routine to emulate the Amiga blitter!
It feels very good to use a mouse in that game. I'd only ever played it on console before.
Now I REALLY want to get the MT-32 pi.
It sounds very cool but the built in munt/fluidsynth performs pretty well with an overclock to 1.2ghz. You don't need a custom kernel anymore, as its built into the system now. Just try the included scripts or command line.

Huh, interesting! I'll have to try that. Hopefully it'll run stable.
There are all kinds of weird ass PlayStation games that I missed out on. Lots of weird ideas. Psygnosis was bad about this. https://youtu.be/d9vB7x2e2Zs
I think someone was trying to get their new Dreamcast hooked up to a Retrotink 5x. Bob&RetroRGB just dropped this video going over some high-quality component cables for Dreamcast (with a 15/31khz switch) from Retrogamingcables, and teasing a scart cable from them as well. It also goes over the current state of a number of other cable options.
Also, I found out that King's Field is numbered wrong in the United States.
You add one to correct it. The first one did not come out here. There is a fan translation.

We have this Hyperkin cable: https://www.amazon.com/Hyperkin-HD-Cable-Wii-nintendo/dp/B072K2DCFM/
I also use USB Loader GX and a USB-microSD adapter.

Analogue is taking forever to make their version of it.
Did you order the TG adapter for your Pocket? I'd play all the games that way.
Steam: betsuni7
Taking forever with that too...
There's already a port of the Mister core on the Pocket, but that won't work with cards naturally.
I actually got the controller from the TG mini. It totally works. Even the rapid fire switches work.
That was when they started getting fancy with the music.
Edit: I just noticed I said that earlier. It is really surprising.

There is a place called Vimm's Lair. Google it.
Still, those games are janky as hell.
For me, personally, the first era of PlayStation was the best.
