I agree with this root-cause analysis, but I raise you - the last KS they did had an unimaginable level of engagement and buy-in. That alone would have resulted in all sorts of problems and logistics nightmares, without Covid.
That they still maintain such inaccurate assumptions makes me wary that internally they blamed everything on Covid and didn't learn any other lessons.
That's bad if it pans out!
Thanks for this list. Now I'm glad I backed the box just to get the Flea and Chameleon.

saywhatnow? whats the point?
They're probably EXPENSIVE by comparison to the normal Forcepacks.
$40 according to the addon thing. Was hoping to game the system a bit but i guess not. Even the IS packs are $30 now.
I'm not even a little surprised. At the original Kickstarter's $5/model, that was a bonkers good deal. Even at $7.50/model that's a super-low cost value IMO!
We live, unfortunately, in a time where the cost of everything has driven up precipitously in the last four years. Honestly, I was expecting more of a jump.
Update on the Update!
Game away on that system.
Methinks the 3rd Party firm CGL hired to manage the Kickstarter moment-to-moment was ALSO not prepared for the outporing of support (and commensurate fervor!).
It could certainly be worse, for sure. With this campaign being fairly underwhelming, I'm looking at going bare bones and just getting the packs piecemeal from the FLGS. The BattleTech stuff sells well there so im sure there will be plenty.
i was literally just going to post this update. I'm sold now with the 40$ packs all day for the choices. Little bit better value, but still not going balls deep... yet.
I still need to figure out just how much to go for, though. I'm obviously in for one of every Forcepack. But two? And then get Mercenary on the secondary market to backfill my accounts all in red?
We live in heady times, friends. Decisions will need to be made, bottom lines redrawn.
It seems a shame that you weren't in time to get one of the Big Kappa packs.
I'm guessing it blew some minds that all 20 of the $5000+ dollar slots where gone within the first hour.
I'm not sure I was ever going to be able to convince both The Management and Finance Departments at my place of employment* go to in on Khan levels of investment. Maybe if I win the lottery someday, or start selling organs....
Besides, I'm a lowly Paper Pusher. I'm just amused they named a reward tier after my title!
*Place of Employment = At Home :P
[Edit]
$2.5M stretch goal announced and reached. More fiction. Eh.
Time for a PowerPoint presentation to Management from the rank and file (you and your kiddo) to pitch the value of the Kahn level.

Hahaha, yeah. All I hear is Kylo Ren's voice yelling, "More!"
I was looking at the Clan KS and realized it ended at a little over $2.5 Mil and this one already hit that level.

The cost for the cheapest "Get a Beginner's Box" Tier went up 75% since CI, and the "Get the Core Product Box" (Clan Invasion, Mercs) Tier went up 60%
Not unreasonable increases - but those increases alone help account for a fair bit of the traffic. Especially when you consider there are now half as many "get physical minis" tiers under $100.
e: oh and the "I'm a retailer" tier also nearly doubled in price - 83% increase. Again, understandable! But also certainly contributes to how quickly they raised how much. I hope they don't end up in the PGI camp of "eff it, the whales will pay whatever we want"
Good point, I forgot about the costs of things going up so hitting a mark as this is easier than the previous one.
It is just odd of us saying this like we bought the Clan box set 20 years ago...

Close!
I'm just looking forward to more dumb robots.
War.
War never changes.
Can my normal Mechs use the Mad Cat as a Mount in combat?
Well hell at that price per 'mech you kinda HAVE to spend the +$500! You're ripping yourself off, otherwise!
If you already plan to drop that much dosh on the game, why not save a few bucks?
Math checks, seems to be the only reasonable path forward.
I'm psyched to run an Aces game, I really enjoyed playing co-op X-wing with a similar system.
I show this shit to my wife and she doesn't give a fuck about me dropping a couple hundo.
Y'all doing good work
I have been authorized by my own finance officer (wife) to drop dumb money on my "dumb space robots".
Though in exchange for an unspecified favor to be determined at a later date.
I'm sure it'll be fine.
I'm fuckin' cashing out right now, between this and other social engagements this year.
Like I wanna see a hauuul
Mine is my avatar!
Ok, just the coolest part of it.

heres some of it...
They don't have Add-Ons (and their corresponding prices) listed yet?
How in the actual fuck am I supposed to math this out, beside guesswork? Is there pricing listed somewhere other than the main Kickstarter page?
I'm literally cozied in with my laptop, building a spreadsheet (like a good paper-pusher does). And now I can't do a meaningful comparative analysis?
