So I saw Hostel 2 earlier tonight.

It was pretty funny, black humor all up in the bitch.

Have any of you seen it/are any of you planning on seeing it?

    Probably not. I'm all for mind-numbing, all-encompassing violence but man these sort of movies are just piling on and I'd rather watch something a little more upbeat.

    I loved Cabin Fever, but hated Hostel, but loved his faux Trailer in Grindhouse.

    I heard from a friend that hostel 1 was good.
    That being the same friend who told me Reststop would be good.
    The same guy who told me the movie where the Asian girl cuts off a guy’s foot with piano wire was good.
    I do not value his opinion on movies much anymore.

    seriously though, you can just tell he loves horror movies, grew up on them, has a passion for the genre, and really loves his job

    But he makes such awful, awful movies

    I could not speak for over five minutes after the PANCAKES sequence in Cabin Fever

    I just couldn't accept that someone would not only have filmed that whole thing, but also think it was good enough to put in the final cut of a theatrical movie

    The end of Hostel II was pretty unexpected and pretty funny, if a bit disturbing.

    I still think the best ending ever is in Death Proof.

    Hostel was the absolute worst shit I have ever seen at the theaters. I'm so very glad I didn't pay for it.
    The first half was softcore porn, so it wasn't too bad.

    But yeah, Hostel 1 wasn't a very good movie. I'm pretty sure Hostel II is going to suck, although, on a rare chance it might be good if it follows the Movie Trilogy theory.

    GOOD MOVIE --> BADASS SEQUEL --> MEDIOCRE/CRAPPY THIRD FILM

    Any franchise can go with that, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, anything.

    Of course, I think the first movie has to be "good" for this to work, and since Hostel sucked. Well, its all downhill from here.

    I'm not disagreeing that Hostel was a bad and unpleasent movie. It reeked of "here's gore for the sake of gore".

    Horror movies are morality plays. You can't just have "bad shit happens oh no" and it be a good film.
