[Starfield] In space, no-one can hear you become overencumbered
Posts
It basically feels like there’s no reason not to go with as big of a class C badass as you can manage as quickly as possible because the benefits of a small “nimble” class A ship just… don’t actually matter.
What orders would you give them though? The only part of piloting I find slightly slow is power distribution and you can't just say "more power to shields" and have that work in a useful way. You have to say "remove three points of power from lasers", "add two points of power to to shields", "add one point of power to missiles". So you're talking 156 different command options to pick from and having to do that selection multiple times just to redistribute power. It's far, far faster just to use the arrow keys to do it yourself.
I want ground orders more than anything. "Stay back 50m and STFU until you hear me open fire" would be ideal.

You can also not bother powering your grav drive if you fast travel directly to landing zones. Skips ship scans too.
You can also just leave if you're getting shaken down by Spacers. Extremely odd
Want to play co-op games? Feel free to hit me up!
I just learned apparently the ship boosters immediately break target lock! So actually that adds a good amount of depth to space combat there.
So far I've had a ship of tourists, a fourth grade classroom and an awkward scientist trying to fill dead air while her grav drive takes forever to start.

As soon as I saw the power subsystems, it was like returning home. It looks just like the old Lucasarts games X-Wing, Tie Fighter and X-wing Vs Tie Fighter, where you had to balance Shields, engine and lasers (and later on tractor beams and other stuff), but functionally its the same, and its something I kinda missed from other space games.
You'd be surprised what a maneuverable class A ship can dodge with the positioning thrusters, though it really only works against a single ship
Concentrated fire from multiple angles will still light you up
I found a very hick guy who was warning me to stay away from a particular sector because some shady shit was happening. Kept calling me Charlie-3, and ended it with "I gotta run, you take care now! You're the nicest Charlie-3 I've talked to all day!" before jumping out. I appreciated that.

From the creators of UESP.
we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other
They need to add the ability to palette swap armour too. It’s ridiculous to be this many games in and they still don’t think “hey maybe the player wants his character to look unique”
I got one that holds a decent amount of cargo it's amazing. The shield breaker is next
I suppose its time to set up a factory base
On thing I feel like is a step back from other Bethesda games is you’ll often have the occasional store in cities rhat requires you to load in. Which would be fine if inside it wasn’t just one room. Put a stock room for me to sneak around in, or some other rooms to make it worth the load, it’s bizarre to go through a load screen no matter how quick for one small room.
Otherwise what you end up with is constant massacres as dozens of prey gets slaughtered by one predator
Maybe mods can add stuff like this but it would go a long way to making the flora and fauna feel real if they interacted in realistic ways and not just “hostile/not hostile”
Its worth buying one with more cargo early if you're a hoarder
I’m on the main planet, and like 500 metres outside the main city I meet a survivalist who’s been attacked by wildlife and needs help. And I’m like we’ve settled this planet for like 200 years? Maybe 100? I dunno I’m not clear on the timelines, but come on. Also can you not call someone from the city?
Also he’s now following me around and I can’t get rid of him, he said he needs to find his ship but there’s no mission marker or even mission, he’s just following me and when I interact with him he just says generic survivalist responses
I’m loving the game but my god the repetition with the procedural structures is ridiculous. I’ve been playing for 15 hours and I’ve seen multiple sets of the same locations on multiple planets, often on the same planet. Also what is the point of the cave locations? Resources I guess? They’re the most boring points of interest I’ve ever seen in a game like this, basically the same small room on every planet, I don’t even bother visiting them anymore
Edit: ok found his ship, I guess it was under the activities tab, which I forgot about. He also said “it’s hard living off the grid” and I’m like mother fucker there’s a space Starbucks within walking distance
Skyrim definitely has a mod for this. So wolves wouldn't all immediately, suicidally attack you from a mile away and would actually be more likely to run from you.
RDR2 did such a good job with the animal AI. I love that you can actually see animals without them constantly attempting to murder you (as long as it's not a grizzly or a cougar)
It shouldn’t be too hard to do something simple, like have herbivores eat plants, drink water, and carnivores kill and then eat, while herbivores flee and only fight if directly targeted or if they’re the last one standing or something. With variables
As it stands now it’s mainly just coming across bodies of herbivores in mass graves
It’s not the worst animal behaviour system I’ve ever seen, but I want something more from it that hopefully modders will flesh out
So I went to the planets moon, and there was the exact same named location. Except this time all the soldiers were still alive
This would honestly make for a great Star Trek or Twilight Zone episode, if it weren't clearly either just copy paste procedural stuff
I love the game a lot but as a massive Bethesda fan my least favourite thing about their recent games has been the procedural stuff, and this game doubles down on that at the cost of some of the stuff I like about their games (detailed npc routines, with homes, work, etc)
I haven't checked it out yet myself but there's a location at New Atlantis, I think somewhere in the MAST District, where you can do ship-simulation flying. I heard battles you do there count for skill-required ship-kills.
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
And yeah I just used it yesterday to finish my ship kills for Piloting 4
Bummer
I really wish the ship builder had a little preview window of the interior of the habs. Just a static single screen shot down the length of the room to get an idea of what it looks like would be huge.
"I heard The Mantis is active again. I'd love to get my hands on him."
I just stopped, turned towards him, and
