My local news site doesn't mention it. This Forum didn't cover it.

I'm seeing alternate news sites mentioning it "below the fold" (ie, you need to scroll down to see the link on the homepage), but in less than glowing terms in terms of anything actually interesting.

Is there even a point in having a third debate, if this is the kind of performance and coverage that the second debate gets?

They desperately need a mic cut-off for these assholes. And for the general debate, too. Good faith decorum does not exist anymore, if someone isn't being asked the question their mic should not be active.

They need to establish clearly to these idiots that they're running for president and not Veep or secretary of agriculture and that means establishing themselves as real candidate with a real platform that is in point of fact better then that of the previous republican president.

They're not running for president anymore, is the thing. They needed to start doing that months ago. They've been campaigning as also-rans afraid to go after Trump and that's why they're all like 30-40 points behind.

They're hoping to get veep (which lol Trump has apparently already said he wants none of them) or hoping he dies before the convention.

DeSantis has been something incredible to watch. Everyone wanted him to be Trump without the baggage, but you actually need, like, some charisma for that. Just horrifying seeing the stuff he did to Florida for the sake of his Maga bonifides only to watch his campaign flame out and nose dive full speed into a mountainside the instant people actually were exposed to his mannerisms and voice.

The comment that resonated with me the most that I saw about this is that they're all politicians trying to run political campaigns, but the Republican base's mindset and everything that is driving them right now is "fuck politics and fuck everybody who wants anything to do with politics." Trump's appeal is that he's going to destroy everything, and that's all that they care about. Going to debates, talking about policy, electioneering, etc, that's all being part of POLITICS, which is automatically bad. They just want their figurehead who's going to destroy everything/piss everybody off.

Do we live in a dumb enough timeline that they listen, cancel the primary, and then he has to be a write in because they didn't follow their own rules to nominate him properly?

The only semi-interesting things are:

Ramaswamy running for Trump VP and having his lips firmly on Trump and Putin's assholes.

Haley telling Ramaswamy to eat shit, repeatedly, for the above.

DeSantis being utterly mediocre and lacking in charisma.

From all of that, we can conclude:

DeSantis just sucks and people are admitting it, so donors have been going to Haley. Issues are, both Haley and the donors are too afraid and too timid to attack Trump, and Trump has too much sway for the base, since he's the Champion of the Culture War. So, unless Trump goes to jail, then, once again, everybody is going to bend the knee, again.

I guarantee that even in the even that the GOP have no primary, no paperwork is filed, and no nomination is made, that Trump still winds up on the ballots.
