IT guy from Nebraska here.
This is truth.
I decided today was a day I was going to try and plough through some of these boxes waiting to be scanned
I have managed to get (checks) 68 images scanned in total
sigh
I just love mobility immunity to everything outside a few weapons
Fromsoft youve done Maliketh again (3rd times a charm, in a game)
Quick, everyone shout your favorite word for an ethnic minority. You go first.
but they're listening to every word I say

Allons enfants de la Patrie,
Le jour de gloire est arrivé!
Contre nous de la tyrannie
L'étendard sanglant est levé
You're never heard French until you've heard a class from an Alabama high school singing that in 10th grade.
Hopefully I can figure it out today and don't have to start from scratch
He's terrifying and I guess everyone there likes Jawless Jerry.
I disagree that this isn't reclaiming a slur - it has definitely been historically used as a slur/pejorative.
I understand the point about being aware of potential erasure you're getting at in the latest post and we're aligned on avoiding that.
Language is definitely complex. For now the word holds two spaces: an identity, and a pejorative. For the folks you know, it's the former, and for other outspoken Roma folks it is the latter.
It still holds meaning as a pejorative in the collective consciousness, so it's best to align with Incejucar and as an out-group avoid using it, especially in ambiguous ways, as the work to eliminate the usage of the harmful pejorative form continues.
And it's why I disagree with not saying something (not necessarily being offended on someone's behalf) as you suggest. It's important, while there is still ambiguity, to speak up and be like, "Pardon?" to help drive the conversations that eliminate the pejorative usage and encourage the positive identity usage.
I wouldn't take this at face value. The surveys used in the 2011 Census data used had the language hard-coded as a category. The identies were not a self-entered field/no voice was given to specific preference.
Louis CK (*spits*) had a bit of a point with "now you're making me think the word!"
it bugs me even more when it's verbal. i guess to avoid their videos being flagged or taken down for graphic content, people will call anything sexual or related to sex work 'spicy' and instead of kill, unalive, and etc. especially when it's a solemn topic, it comes off so ridiculous and pat. i don't know how they do it with a straight face.
I dunno what else to say about him, I've only seen him in okayish action movies, but apparently God didn't break the mold when he made Clint
can't wait to wander around boston this week accusing everyone of appropriating my culture*
*drinking and repressing feelings
i'm fine with it for c o n t e n t but i've heard people using these terms in real life and i have such a visceral reaction to it
thanks. it sucks big time. it's also really alienating, because i'm only comfortable talking about it to friends. if someone else asks how i am, even a really anodyne 'just really worried about my family in israel' risks a gross, unwanted political diatribe. i'm sad, and don't want to negotiate responding to someone who's saying something uncool. reminds me of being sad about a partner fight or breakup and then someone tries to express solidarity by going full misogynist, like i want to hear you call this important woman in my life a crazy bitch or whatever. don't make me argue with you while i'm already sad about something!!
anyways it stinks.
Tartt: "I changed the e to a u".
Phoebe: "You owe me a £."
Tartt: "Why? I didn't say it."
Phoebe: "You made me think it which is just as bad."
or something close to that.
I had one yesterday, like straight up boilerplate mexican restaurant (the kind that has the "Speedy Gonzalez" on the lunch menu)
I got a burrito (shredded chicken) with rice and beans and it was so good. I didn't even use hot sauce
have you ever had a gas station burrito that's been sitting in its aluminum foil wrapper on the heat tray for 9 hours, and you open it and the tortilla is basically a gel at this point
Yet again I am begging someone to help chu in his time of need
ten days ago i had a 225 dollar meal
the world takes all kinds
no but I've had some questionable hot dogs*
*they were hot dog shaped on a roller but not actual hot dogs
I have shaved my head since I was 20
What is the weekly care routine like for someone with your hair, then and now?
Chimichangas never disappointed, nor did the corn dogs.
Wild guess would be some dark jam, maybe blackberry.
Second guess would be black caviar.
Ok I have a question about this
lfx also does the two elastic bands thing for his ponytail, when he wears his hair up; however, very few (basically no) white women do that, that I've seen (I'm trying to think if it's more common in black women's hairstyles and it might be)
how did you decide to use multiple elastic bands and why?
