Are the details of the SAG-AFTRA voice actor AI agreement available to the public yet? All the links I've found just point back to the press release.
Unless it has a lot of protections in there for voice actors, I am skeptical of any labor agreement that involves AI
Like if you record a bunch of stuff for an AI to use and any time that AI gets used you get paid, that's... something, I guess? I dunno, depends on what the actors want, frankly
I am too, but I'd like to argue from a position of knowledge rather than a position of assumptions.
You know what they say about knowledge.
It makes a knowl out of edge.
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

Also fuck AI in any context for voice acting. I don't need details.
Fuck anything the studios wanted. Fuck anything SAG-AFTRA agreed to. Everyone involved in bringing AI into art in any capacity can eat shit.

All of the response I’ve seen so far is the actors saying “this is the first we’ve heard of this” about an agreement claiming they’re all onboard with it.
The premise for tenet should have been my jam. I love time shenanigans of all kinds. I found tenet to be profoundly boring.
Tenet is the only film I've ever walked out of, it was the most boring thing I've ever seen, probably after Miami Vice which I WANTED to walk out of but thought the other person was enjoying it (they weren't). And I love action and time travel.

The only movie I've ever walked out on was Batman Forever. Though I wish I'd walked out of Star Trek: Into Darkness. Sound and fury signifying fuck all.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
I can't believe they striked for so long to turn around and say "hey we're going to embrace this technology trying to replace your artistry!"
If this is some sort of "voice actors aren't real actors" bullshit from SAG, I'm going to be pissed.
Especially because the only thing that beats the people you're fighting is solidarity, and opening the door like this is just going to fuck you in the next contract.

Chris Nolan
Makes pretty entertaining movies that get blown way out of proportion by people.
They aren’t nearly as smart or as dumb as people want them to be. They're just movies.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is in line with SAGs stated goal right? Not to ban AI but to create "safeguards" and "proper compensation" for AI. So I wouldn't be surprised if they bring in something similar for film and TV actors
Like, they've already made the stupid decision to support AI against a lot of their members wishes, this is just them following up on it

Nolan is fairly pretentious about the act of making movied and how the craft is important, but he never gives the vibe of thinking that his movies are more than big fun action movies. It's not like he's Zach Snyder here thinking he makes high art everytime I knows exactly what he's making

I agree but people want everyone of his movies to be high art when sometimes they’re just movies.

Nolan is dumb guy smart, that's all it is. His movies are high low art, his ideas are deep at first glance, et cetera.
People love to overthink Nolan's movies, and they act like they're hard to understand, but they're all pretty straight forward, he's just a director with a really good visual style who doesn't choose bad projects.

I liked Interstellar up until his tumble through time. The final Batman Nolan did I felt was the worst of the 3. I have not really seen Tenant and I am not sure what people are trying to say with certain clips I have not seen Inception at all and I feel with Tenant they are trying to tie the two together?
Dunkirk caused us to really look at rebooting the home speaker system. [replacing the wires and the speakers since the mixer still works}
Tenet and Inception are not connected in any way whatsoever.
I have not seen either but on YT shorts and other social media people were trying to tie the two together so I did not understand what they were doing
These are people that are franchise poisoned. "I didn't like the new Pixar movie because it doesn't fit with my theories of the Pixar Universe," that kind of person.
It's not coming to me right away, but my 13 yo son did this recently with something, and we were in the middle of watching a family movie so I didn't go on a whole dad tirade about it, but I really do think It's a Problem, where Marvel et al has poisoned people in this specific way.
oh, oh, it was we were watching Spirited Away, and the kids had recently watched Totoro, and he was like, oh the soot sprites mean that these movies happen in the same universe and I was just like "............."

The last film I walked out of was Proud Mary. What a pile of dreck, but maybe that's on me for falling for the false marketing that made it look like a '70s-style film.

I don't think its a Marvel problem so much as everybody trying to copy their success. That and all the youtubers/tik-tokers who talk about movies that way.
I mean, I guess technically I walked out on all of them, just not while they were playing.
I have left a few that ended early to film breaks hangover 2 was the last film I remember that ended early because of this

Only movie I can remember leaving early was Fred Christmas.
My wife and I got 2 free passes so we randomly went to that movie and we were so tired we were falling asleep so we ended up just going home.

Marvel had as much to do with inventing this compulsion as I did with inventing pizza rolls because I just made some in my air fryer. (they were tasty, if you must know)
Humans love connecting dots, even if there's no connections or hell even any fucking dots. Been doing it for millennia, and we'll do it for millennia more if we're around for it, and whatever succeeds us might just do it too.
Hell, the concept of "making money off of people's theory-crafting" is probably older than capitalism.
The only thing that's changed is thanks to the Internet the dot-connecting left the water cooler and went global.

yeah people were doing the Pixar universe bullshit way before the MCU came along.
It makes me think of Jenny Nicholson's video about one of the Fantastic Beasts movies, where she jokes that one of the secret babies the characters hear about "is named Madame Rosmerta! WooooOOOOOOoooooo!!!," and that would mean that the movie is good with a deep story because some of the characters have a meaningless connection to another character you've heard of before.
I mean, I guess technically I walked out on all of them, just not while they were playing.

I have left one film early in my life.
The movie was Twister. The venue was a drive in theater (it was the second movie of the double-feature). The reason was a thunderstorm ramping up into a tornado watch.
Sadly, the warning happened about 30 minutes in, so the events of real life did not coincide with the events of the movie.
I watched Batman Begins last year for the first time in over a decade and that movie is actively BAD, like it is regularly narratively and visually INCOHERENT, I was shocked at how lousy it was

Tangentially, I miss drive-in theaters. Would've been great to have around during the lockdown years.

I'm rewatching this now because I don't remember it being that bad, but right off the bad I'm curious why the opera theater is in the bad part of town and why rich people would go there.
