Hmm... I didn't actually buy Zombi, I think it was a GWG... or at least it has the GOLD icon in the bottom corner of its tile. That said, first person zombie games aren't really my thing either. Dead Island 2 is on game pass, but I think just that advert in reverse is what resonated most with me from that franchise. But ultimately I've kind decided to lean away from gratuitous gore and iirc that franchise decided to lean hard into it.
I thought Dying Light was less zombie and more fighting humans?
Will probably chug through the rest of this game (unfortunately you have to beat it on all three difficulties because they don't stack), and see what to do from there. I do own a few other FPS games that have gone untouched... maybe I'll give them a whirl, but I won't dig as deep.
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
In anticipation of GTAV going on sale in the next few weeks, I still would like to know if the X|S version has the same bug in the X1 edition. Basically, whether-or-not the lettermen jackets you can buy for Franklin have the patches on them when he wears it.
If there is anybody who has the X|S version (not the X1 version played on the X|S) and can confirm the condition of those jackets, I would be grateful.
Truly love the randomness that is holiday shipping and delivery. That Ghost Cipher controller had an estimated delivery date of Tuesday. They dropped it off a few hours ago, and had I been gaming with my headphones on or decided to crash early...I probably never would have heard them making the delivery and somebody else would have my controller. :V

GTAV seems to have been on sale near constantly for a while.
I nearly bought it for series X to play through again and stopped myself just in time.
I bought it for xbone years ago, forgot about it and then played that version on Series X fairly recently.

Indy is pretty fun so far. I'm only on the first real mission but it feels great. One thing is the music feels very movie-like and it really does wonders to pull me into it. I wish other games would take note that music is a crucial part of the experience with games too.

Was very unsurprised to learn early on that they had specifically tapped Gordy Haab for it (Respawn Jedi series), that dude has been chasing the John Williams sound for the longest time

I have the X1 version. But it's got issues the 360 edition never had. For example, the clothing decoration bug. I don't need to get the X|S bersion, bit if I knew that wasn't in there, I'd be more likely to get it when it's cheap. So that's why I ask if anybody has played the X|S version and can say if it's still there or not. If they can't be bothered to fix that, then they probably haven't done anything for any of the stuff that ended up in X1 but not 360.

I would have bet money it was John Williams lol
He retired after Indy 5. Which ok its a good score but kinda wish he had ended his career on a higher point.
Okay I put more time into the game and the combat is a lot of fun. The game feels a bit like Dishonored when walking around (in a good way) and the fighting is pretty satisfying right now.
I thought Dying Light was less zombie and more fighting humans?
No, the vast majority of the game is wandering around streets and rooftops avoiding dozens and dozens of zombies, getting in fights with hordes, and avoiding super zombies at night
There's a lot of human fighting for sure but that's not what it's all about

Yea i've heard it's closer to the immersive sim genre than anything else.
Which if true, is pretty cool.
Been watching a stream and it seems neat from the small biti watched. Can definitely see the immersive sim bits. The puzzles have been silly simple but hopefully that's just an early game thing. Puzzles being weak would be a disappointment.
Since I got myself one of those Galaxy Black edition Series X's, I am planning on giving my XBox One as a gift to my brother and his kids for Christmas. The kids are 12 and 8 (boys).
Looking for some age-appropriate games I can pre-load onto the Xbox One for them. I'm pretty sure my bro has already let the boys play Halo, so I think the Master Chief collection is an easy buy, especially since they can play that one together split screen co-op.

I don't care about Indiana Jones as a franchise at all, but I am thoroughly enjoying The Great Circle. It just feels good to play, the story is interesting enough, and yes, absolutely sign me up for beating up fascists and Nazi's with garden tools.
Okay. So here's an aggravating thing that just started in the last week or so: going into the in-console storefront a window pops up asking me if I'd like to be notified of sales. There are three choices; Yes, Not Now and a box to never show me again.
And no matter how many times I tell it to never show me again and then select Not Now it pops up every time I enter the store after booting. Thanks, Obama!

"Remember me" and "Don't show me this" prompts notoriously don't work. It's like spam emails, you say take me off the list and they do, but then somebody sells them your email again and they go right back to doing it (I'm looking at you, Kohl's).

Sure. But I think it's more a 'general' MS fuck up. As in, I tell the store to stop auto-playing videos roughly once a month. It remembers, right up until it doesn't. But, yeah, I'll just skip past the boot up ad screen and I barely notice the Home page ads, but if you're going to ask me if it's okay and I keep telling you 'no', then fuck right off.
The only place I don't mind that they keep asking me is when a system update is released. I would normally want it to auto-update (because turning the system on and then being forced to update when I'd rather be playing sucks [I do appreciate that it doesn't do that immediately upon release]) but given my ISP I don't want it suddenly siphoning up the available bandwidth like Windows does all the fucking time. So one day I'll just agree, but until then I skip past it until the next time.
What I’ve noticed is that your preferences in the store get reset every time the store updates the Store app - like it doesn’t keep any of your preferences between app updates. That auto-launching video when your selector is on a game for a couple seconds is annoying as fuck for me and I have to turn it off every time. Though it remembers to leave the sound off. No idea how it chooses what options to retain and which ones to lose.

holding to a sliver of hope the MVC Capcom fighting collection is announced for release tomorrow during the game awards but I should know better, we've been forgotten.
It is indeed, and then I'll set it to on, so i can check out something quickly.
Then I realise there's like a whole minute or two of logos and story before I can find out what the gameplay even is.
So I select the game, then I can skip all of that, see what I want to see, go back to the store and set sound to off again.
This happens nearly every time I'm in the store.

I hope it's a bug because it's pretty dumb that you can't scrub through the trailer video that plays when you navigate up to the "Trailer" tab... you have to go down to the detail and hit the trailer button there, or go to the video section to be able to scrub the videos. Like... why?

I know this is probably what you meant, but to clarify it's already been announced for Xbox release, just doesn't have a date yet beyond "2025".
My 12 year old has been using my old One X in his game room without much issue, but its deep enough into the gen now that there are finally games that it won't play anymore. So we went ahead and got him a Series S (he's 12, he doesn't need a Series X like mine) and he's had it since Black Friday.
Honestly? Its a great little machine! It plays everything mine does, on his 65" non-OLED it looks just fine, and it was only $250 with the sales. We logged him in, and all his games and saves are there. Painless.
Now I'm sure if I moved it to my room and hooked it up to the CX I'd see a big difference. But it was an interesting reminder of how easy they've made the ecosystem to transfer/upgrade. I knew it from when I went to my Series X, but its easy to forget.
I was doubtful, and I definitely wouldn't get it as a primary platform - but for anyone that has a kid that games its a pretty dang good value.

I think after a Nintendo Switch, an Xbox Series S is probably the best gaming system for a child, sure.
Series S generally plays games fine, the current-gen stuff just looks very soft on a 4K TV. If AMD had some better upscaling tech at the time it could've take such low specs much further. (Hoping the Switch 2 will prove this point.)
12-year-old might have "outgrown" such "E" stuff as Mario and Kirby. Clearly Nintendo needs to bring back the "play it loud" marketing for this demographic.

Just had another official Xbox controller crap out on me, the left stick can’t read any input when you push it up from 11-1 o clock but works fine every other area on the clock. It’s been the most cared for controller, never dropped at all.
We’re now moving from one a year to two a year and George is getting upset!

Here are all the XBox Controllers I’ve worn out over the last 8 years or so.
That sucks. I haven’t had any trouble with mine, except for one I dropped, hard, repeatedly. Just kept falling off of high surfaces that I’d put it on. After about 8 months of that, I’d have movement of characters even when I wasn’t touching the joystick. My second one has lasted over two years now. All of my Xbox one controllers have been great and my Xbox 360 controllers are still going strong (even the single controller I threw against a wall in the only game relate fit of rage I’ve ever had). While I don’t doubt you both have had issues (and others in this thread as well), I’ve generally had good luck with 1st party controllers of all the major platforms - except for the PS3. Those controllers were such outright shit. Felt cheap as hell and dirt would constantly build up in the joystick wells and gum them up. Just the worst controllers I’ve ever owned, since the Master System,
Honestly I hate the Xbox controllers. I think the buttons (ABXY) are just too loud compared to something like an 8bitdo or Switch/PS5. But I have misophonia and my roommate used to play fighting games a bunch and hoooo boy is it a trigger for me.
