If I'm reading stuff right, we should start being able to see some partial coverage well before totality correct?
Stuff is telling me some time between 1:57 and 2:40 for that with totality at 3:12 or so.
I'm probably going to go wait outside here in line half an hour. I'm hoping my Hill gives me enough visibility. I wish I had bought a folding chair I would have went to homecoming park it didn't look too busy yet on the news

Sky's gone totally gray where I am; can't even tell where the sun is right now. Totality is in less than an hour and hopefully it clears up a tiny bit by then?
At least I'll get to experience it going totally dark in the middle of the day, I guess.
the path of the totality looks actually pretty clear EXCEPT for texas and new york/southern ontario. Fair amount of cloud cover to the south of the totality in the US though.

Oh there's no way I am seeing anything of this in Seattle, but I'm gonna go outside at the total eclipse point. Might be neat.
EDIT: I mean, I know we won't see the total eclipse from here.

go outside now because you're 1 minute from peak eclipse there
you should be able to see a slight chunk taken out of the sun if you look at the shadow projected around any small hole

I just tried to take a peak at the eclipse but my area in western Washington is so cloudy that I couldn't even pinpoint the sun.

Yep, were doing alright but now the sun is directly behind a giant gray cloud with totality in 13 minutes or so.
Oh wait, it peaked out again while writing this post.
Guess we'll see?

I took my glass down to the lake and a bunch of people ended up stopping to talk because I was the only one with a real glass and not the dinky little 3D glasses looking things that cannot be safe.
I mentioned eclipses only happening when the moon is New because that way the sun and moon are in the same direction in the sky and a guy asked me "which is which" in complete earnestness
I gave him a serious answer without judgement but oi vey no wonder most people don't bounce off astrology the way I do.
I have manufactured a pinhole viewer out of a diaper box and have about fifteen minutes until peak eclipse here which is like 50%. My daughter is fed and just had a diaper changed so I should have no distractions to stop me. I should have looked into getting real eclipse glasses, but now that's not a real concern as it's a long time before we get another one in the US.
I always thought you could see the corona moving, but it's actually still. The biggest impression for me was how it just faded to dark.
Could hear cheers echoing over the lake, there were some people setting off fireworks.
To a CERTAIN degree I can see how it feels anticlimactic given how much everyone talks it up, but it really is a completely different experience to any other eclipse, and I'm glad I made it out

Ah, my birthtown! It's probably one of the better areas to see the eclipse for SW Ontario.

Hopefully it holds up over the next hour; if I have to work this event anyways then it would be nice to actually see the thing
Ten minutes until we get partial here in Ohio
Just as the prophecies foretold.

Anyway I got these:
I'm actually preferring them to my solar binoculars because while the binocs are cool and I could see a sunspot holding them steady it's hard.
And we're getting there now. Things getting super dim

Only got to see the full corona effect for a bit, but it did manage to come out from behind the clouds during totality

Yeah all that happened here was it got super dark and all our porch lights came on while I was watching Sami Zayn wrestle.
The sun god owes me money now.
