doesn't he have to make the team first lol
like i thought it was gonna happen anyway but i would've thought they'd make him go through the song and dance of summer league and stuff for appearances or would that risk exposing him too much too early

Not with an agent like Rich Paul. "I don't do two-way contracts".
Then again - might as well give him a contract. The moment LeBron said publicly he wanted to play with his son, this was the endresult. And even if he isn't good enough for the NBA on his own - who cares? His father will play a couple of seasons before retiring and if Bronny hasn't developed enough, he'll be out of the league pretty fast. Unless LeBron immediately transitions into team ownership or something.
The more I read / hear about this situation, the more I feel with Bronny. All of this is his dads ego and from the outside it seems as if Bronnys wishes hadn't really been considered and / or nobody really thought what this whole thing does to him.

From Bronny's perspective I can see him having a couple reasons why he might go along with it that isn't just, "This is what my dad wants".
He thinks he isn't good enough to get into or stick around in the NBA for long anyway, so this is his chance to make it and/or improve enough to get there
He thinks he is good enough but doesn't think he'll get the right opportunities to prove he can hack it, so this is his way to get playing time and show his value a la Austin Rivers
There's an argument to be made that 5-10 MPG in the NBA is worth more than 30+ MPG in the NCAA/G-League (with Bronny's level of development I'm not sure you can make that case, but it's a legitimate argument).
From a broader context, such as public perception and his own mental well-being, I think that he would've been best staying in college or taking a two-way and getting significant time in G-League to give him the space and time to shore up his game. But here's where we are, so I guess we'll see what happens.
5 minutes in the nba for bronny is going to be him absolutely embarrassed night in and night out. he would get smoked by guys coming off the end of the bench, he wasn't even a useful player on a bad college team.
the dude will literally never see the court in games less than 20+ point differential, or they will rapidly become 20+ point differential.
Lol I'm trying to just ignore the Bronny stuff but now his intro press conference is showing up everywhere......
Just some fun gaslighting and extreme delusion on the part of Bronny too. Reddick and Pelinka make sure to tell everyone that Bronny totally earned this through hard work and it has nothing to do with his dad, and then Bronny doing his best to lose any sympathy I have for him with:
"I feel like I could've been perfecting my game more," Bronny said. "I feel like I've been given the opportunity to showcase what I can really do because I wasn't given that much of an opportunity at SC. I'm excited for what is to come."
its crazy, i thought just drafting him would be enough, but they gotta keep pushing him every step of the way
at this rate, Caitlin Clark's treatment is gonna look like a cakewalk compared to how they guys are gonna treat bronny
Kyle Anderson to the Warriors at 3/27. Pretty good. Now, are they able to get Markannen without overpaying...

Redick also saying that having the Lakers G-League coaching staff coaching the Summer League games is, "such a great opportunity for them", like he's gonna be their mentor. What a wanker

This... This can't be real right? Like he's gotta be trolling or some shit
So he's gonna go to Memphis and replace Dillon Brooks after all that he said and did there? Teach ja about gun safety? No way this was happening
Maybe an alien deep fake or something
I see the Lakers took all the lessons of Kobe’s last contract to heart, I am looking forward to their combined 143 wins in the 6 seasons after Lebron’s catastrophic leg injury
I thought the whole point of JJ and bronny was that maybe they'd be able to play hardball with him when it came time for his own negotiations. Like what was he gonna do walk away? Apparently they're content just fighting for play-in spots
Despite what JJ and Rob said at JJ's introductory presser and even in subsequent pressers - they HAVE to know that year 1 they won't be a title contender.
LeBrons contract has a player option for year 2. So maybe after he scratched that "I want to play with my son" itch, he hangs up his sneakers? Or by then they have a better picture of what needs to be done to contend, he opts out and gives them cap space?
I don't know... Or just every rumor about LeGM is true and this is just one last power play before he retires.
AD should probably ask out of there
Like at this point if he doesn't leave, his future is wasting 2 years of being barely a play in team while he carries most of the load and then Bron retires and Lakers go into rebuild mode and he gets traded anyway
I was actually expecting one of the van Gundys to be an assistant for him.
That was my hope too given that Jeff went to the clippers and an in-city and sibling rivalry makes it even better
I imagine Stan might be too smart to attach himself to this sinking ship though

Warriors get Buddy Hield in a sign-and-trade. I like this move. Gives some badly needed outside shooting especially with Klay's departure. Also gives someone other than Curry who can actually hit a corner 3. Warriors have been atrocious on corner 3s the last few seasons.
buddy looked absolutely unplayable last year, but maybe kerr can get more out of him. it was painful watching the dude, he looked absolutely lost on the court and wouldn't even shoot when wide open.
Well sure it is. Do you lose your hate for the Lakers in the seasons they're not a dynasty? It's all part of the fun.
late-stage kobe and post kobe i kinda started to feel bad for them a little
kinda like whats become of the blazers
its just sad
maybe you can't identify because you thunderheads don't know suffering but we warriors fans do have empathy for the dark ages of other teams after having come out of the longest one ever in the history of sport

Ya'll may not have as many titles as Boston, but the amount of famous, fun, Warrior eras, equals the Celtics historic lore in the annals of NBA history.
Really curious where Derozan ends up...Yahoo saying Kings might sign him. I'm kinda surprised he's still available. Man averaged 24/5.3 assists/4.6 rebounds last season, with nearly 8 FT attempts per game. I know he's older, but damn, he can still play.

He's the antithesis of a modern NBA wing though. He's not a great defender, old, and doesn't shoot threes. He can play, but i definitely understand him having little to no trade value especially considering nearly every playoff team is paying luxury tax.

nate mcmillan and scott brooks?

Maybe Kyrie will get jettisoned so people can root for them?
There's a decent spot for him in Miami...
lol bro "you might get hit with a rico"
Dynasty officially broken up but the hate is still there. If OKC continues to trend upwards, they'll become the new enemy. Cycle of basketball life.

yeah but:
- It's LA
- They have 17 championships
Who hates the Bulls other than their own front office?
