Gil's arena is also one of the NBA podcasts in which they also get a little more "real" about NBA life. I.e., they aren't super media trained and corporate-ified like something like JJ Reddick or Paul George's podcasts. They are happy to talk a bit about the money, groupies, party, beef side of the NBA, if that interests people. Also, more willing to say something bad about someone.
Personally, I'm not really a fan, just because I don't think the opinions are particularly well thought out or researched, and it also skews "kids these days are soft. In my day . . .", which I can't really stand. But its def got its moments.
The real problem is that Gilbert Arenas is - no meanness intended here - kind of a moron. Any thought or opinion he has outside of his nominal area of expertise (basketball and the NBA) is invariably banal and ignorant.
I only get bits and pieces of it, but every time one of his clips pops up it never reflects well on his intelligence, knowledge, or thoughtfulness. Even his NBA takes are often blatantly wrong, in the sense that he clearly doesn't think about how things might go for someone outside of his direct experience or perspective.
What in the hell is that monstrous screen for? That has got to be like the worst nba experience for fans up high. Here’s 10,000 lumens of random shit in your face while you’re trying to see down to the court.

that thing is gigantic, but i suppose they need something to occupy the space cause its not gonna be banners anytime soon
oh there are also usb c chargers so thats kinda nice and if you coordinate with other fans, you might be able to change your colored light to spell out profanity at other players
until the arena catches on and turns off all your lights

maybe he's finally enacting my plan
these other teams don't need more film on team USA
if we throw the rest of these exhibition games, we'll likely do better in the olympics as other teams won't know what to gameplan for

not really, at least the one I saw. He made up some African sounding name and said the US can't lose to "[name] tribe". Then said the US can't lose to Cool Runnings (e.g., a team that has no business competing). Pretty tame to me, standard shit talking comedy stuff.
Looks like Lebron is going to carry the flag for the US in the opening ceremony. Steph nominated him. Thats pretty nice.
read about that yesterday. apparently each flag bearer (1 male, 1 female) is voted on by the other athletes. so Curry nominated Lebron, and the rest voted him in then.

You can't just throw the ball at people's faces

that's pretty interesting, although I wonder how many people will get caught off guard and hit in the face

that sounds like a maintenance nightmare. People going to be damaging all that right away.
