And we're back to Ubel and Land in the hands of the Imperial forces.
Again, it's nice to see competent antagonists, as that gives the protagonists some genuine challenge.
We get to see Ubel and Land think through their bindings, which also gives us some thought into their thinking on magic.
Also, turns out that Ubel can control Reelseiden when she wants...
...or she can level the tower they're held in.
Though that was an excellent play to counter the Magic Corps officer's note of fighting to the death.(And her acknowledgement of that was a nice touch as well.)
Given Lord Gluck's note about Frase in the prior chapter, the note that she's similar to Ubel is disturbing.
Girl Meets Rock, waiting for Kouyama to use the behelit
It's amazing, it's a cute girls form a band manga, except one of the cute girls is Light Yagami.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
I couldn't parse that sentence at all. I didn't realize "Girl Meets Rock" is the title of a anime, and there's a berserk reference in one of the episodes apparently? I couldn't find it without any additional context.

Episode 1 of Bye Bye Earth kinda ruled. I'll have to catch up and see if this continues.
The first episode was definitely the strongest, and it's unfortunately been getting increasingly incoherent and nonsensical every episode since. Plus, the budget's predictably cratered.
It's definitely weird, but it's trying to cram in a ton of exposition about this weird fantasy world as fast as possible, so I can at least understand the difficulty. Second episode has made me curious, so I'll probably give it at least a few more before dropping it. The dub is a few weeks behind, so that lets me less worried about keeping up.
Vtuber Legend and Mayonaka Punch are the two I'm looking to go all the way with this season.

It is a manga. There's not a berserk reference in it, I just feel like that character is gonna use the behelit eventually.

Tangential, since everyone in this thread loves the Fate series...
Fate Stay/Night officially got a Steam release today, and it launched with a bug that caused random sprites to appear with dialogue meant for other characters, often to hilarious effect.
It's already been patched out, but the launch was a glorious disaster.
The plotline in Suicide Squad Isekai cannot have been written by actual humans.
(ep 9)
Surprise, the queen is actually a secret necromancer, literally never before been referenced or seen to this point, who conquered both kingdoms, completely mind-controlled the entire populace of one of them, and her entire plan was to fake a war because that would be more death than just... mind-controlling them to death? This is the same person who constantly went into fits of slobbering rage every time Harley and pals killed too many enemies or allies on the battlefield, which was bad before so she kept throwing them in jail to stop them from doing it again, but now she's saying was her master plan.
And she's decided to arbitrarily go mask off and throw a coup... against herself... with her loyal followers of... literally one dude and four soldiers that he himself is mind-controlling and just got killed by a teenager on his first assignment.
Twelve year olds could have put together a more sensical story.

yeah it's important to remember that
1) Big chunks of Sherlock Holmes weren't public domain until recently
2) The estate is really litigious
3) Even if you can get away with making something in Japan, that doesn't mean that it'll get exported
4) Anime on Japanese TV costs money to air, it's only merchandise and hard-copy sales that make money
in the case of Sherlock Hound, that was made for Italian public broadcast - which I have to imagine is how the SACD estate got wind of it
To demonstrate how incomprehensible Bye Bye Earth has become, a recap of episode 5
Belle, the heroine, and Adonis, the homeless sword thief, reviled by all, living on the streets and getting beaten up by all the guards with a secret luxury pocket dimension apartment hidden in some living dog-lettuce and a museum of stolen swords, have joined the marching band army as directed by the local demigod to kill a traitor who lives in a cave. They're immediately ambushed, despite playing a jaunty marching tune, by a giant spider and the entire marching band killed and scattered.
Belle finds a survivor, who's gone crazy because she's a mermaid who bonds for life and her husband is now an undead monster being controlled by the traitor that they're forced to kill with the help of a magic rabbit boy that she saved from town bullies some three episodes prior. So she re-bonds with the heroine and they regroup with a few more survivors and find the traitor lady using her undead army to do historical re-enactments against itself, but she goes crazy with rage when she sees Adonis.
But then the slaver bug dude from a couple episodes ago shows up again and leads them to escape where he tells them that the traitor lady used to be a hero but went crazy when Adonis told her that her lover died and vowed revenge on him for being the one to tell her that. The bug dude is leading his own little resistance against her. They decide to form their own mini-marching band based on technicalities ("I'll be the pianist!" one declares, a pianist obviously being part of a band), and one of the random background dudes walks up and says "Oh, hey. I'm Adonis's dad. Well, anyway, bye."
And then the episode ends.

So the sakuga in the most recent One Piece episode 1114 was stunning:
Both sequences also feature new and amazing additions to the OST of the One Piece world, which is saying something.
In general, I feel like the animation in anime keeps getting better and better each season. Mother's Basement actually commented on this in a recent video, about how "cinematic" more series are becoming. I don't know if this is because techniques have gotten better, more money is being spent on animation, or animators are being driven harder to death to produce better and better animation, but the upward trend in quality is noticeable.

General notes:
-Two traumatized androids, heading in opposite directions.
-Pod 042's star performance starts here. Do not underestimate what a pain in the ass he can be, at will.
Superfan/franchise commentary:
-Sticking so close to the game, I have less to talk about here, for once.
-The meeting between A2 and Lily was genuinely sweet, I'd call that a good payoff to switching out Lily for Anemone. One thing that works better in the show is that they've sort of implied a large terrain that is, you know, the whole planet. A2 could have gone anywhere after the mission ended in horror and despair, so it makes sense she never would have happened by the Resistance Camp, especially if she wasn't looking for it (and if they didn't even have such a camp in the time she knew them). In the game, there's a very fixed environment you can explore, so the idea A2 would have existed in that environment and never seen the camp is kind of... impossible, unless she was avoiding it on purpose (which would make sense).
-I think it was kind of a mistake to have A2 slaughter a Pod earlier because... feels like she would do that to 042 after he intentionally gets on her last nerve and pitches a tent there. I guess the intention is that she is mainly playing the part of a merciless hunter killer, but retains enough sense to not kill things that are either harmless or friendly to her. My dispute with that characterization is... she is literally introduced killing a baby. And her special ability in the game is to Enrage and gain a big power burst while harming herself with the sheer intensity of it. In the game, it seemed like she would maybe LIKE to kill Pod, but it was tricky enough to dodge her if she made any obvious moves at doing so. He was actually LESS annoying in the show, in the game he is just an incredible pain in the ass for this whole section, it is very funny.
-Various things from the Machine village sidequests clearly visible, but in passing. Stuff like the Machine that refuses to leave its house, the (asshole) philosopher, the kids playing, and the shop. I noticed the lead pipe weapon at the shop (not where you get it in the game), but not the main thing you do get there, the three Machine weapons (versions of what the enemies are always trying to kill you with).
-Teaching the Machine kids about fear, specifically, was a great choice that will definitely go well and protect them forever.
-I bet we will get either a whole Devola + Popola episode, or at least a MAJOR lengthy flashback. If they don't, a major sequence at the end won't have any impact.
-Some more iffy subs in here, one of the lines seemed to have a noticeable grammar error in it. I noticed something similar in SS Isekai, I guess all these teams are being rushed or not getting enough editing passes.
Yo, Elusive Samurai, if you could stop being accidental grotesque body horror, that'd be super cool.
Episode 6
The villain of the week is a dude who hears real good. The way they chose to show this is by having him sprout a mouth full of teeth from inside his ear and whisper murder into the bulging eyeball of the other archer antagonist who sees real good. The eyeball is also now talking for some reason.

So you're saying I should start watching this cause that sounds rad as hell
It is in my probably top three of the season, so yes, recommended. Wouldn't say it's super special, but it's solid enough shounen adventure kind of thing. Spunky kids, power of friendship, gimmicky not-quite super powers, etc. It just has tons of super weird artistic choices and the most recent episode dialed the weirdness up from like 8 to 11. Most episodes are nowhere near this fucked up. Even for this show, this episode was on a lot of drugs. The excessive facial expressions were always in the manga (it is Jump after all), but the anime seems determined to outdo itself.
I'm starting to think Cloverworks is the studio where Aniplex sends all its ketamine. Or perhaps is built next door to a massive poppy field.
Elusive Samurai didn't grab me as a manga so i didn't follow it, but it's by the assassination classroom guy, so it doesn't surprise me it has some horror adjacent wild shit

Kyochiro is still a creep but it goes from ugh to entertaining pretty quick - they cut out a LOT of the early slop.
It's not high animation or anything, but this is quality junk food.

Probably the best "Holmes" adaption of the lot even though it stars Moriarty
I initially read that as Moriarty the Parrot, which sounds a lot more interesting.

Hayao Miyazaki was working on a series but some legal issues with the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's estate derailed the production.

This comes after a bit where a dude is so shocked by a massacre in front of him that he has visions of being born and his umbilical cord cut.
