Dandadan was great as expected. We got two and a half friends who went in blind (my brother in law got partially exposed by my sister watching). They also liked it!

Unsurprisingly, Ichi the Witch, story by Nishi Osamu (Iruma-kun), art by Usazaki Shiro (Act-Age) absolutely fucking rules.
Here's hoping we're here for the establishment of the next pillar of Jump!

OP 1125:
rest in piss St. Saturn, fuck that guy. For sure he more than likely got replaced by someone worse, almost like a real oligarchy, but that guy sucked and it's good he is dead. only negative is that it wasn't Bonney Nika-yeeting him to the actual orbit of saturn.

I'm feeling more cynical honestly. The premise is, well, it's fraught to be awfully blunt. Real gender essentialists marlarky that could easily go wrong. Or degenerate into a harem piece, or whatever.
I hope it avoids those pitfalls, but I'm as said, cynical.

The Iruma manga feels a bit better with gender stuff, so with those concerns I'm a bit optimistic that it could be handled well (or better than other works) but I could be forgetting something.
Yeah, Iruma does a decent job with gender stuff. Honestly, I feel that if Ichi the Witch falls through it's either going to come down to the author, some shithead editor or bullshit from Jump specifically. I haven't read it yet, so I can't say if I should be worried about this being out of the author's wheelhouse or not, which is generally how I see a potential author fail playing out, in that they go with a story isn't there strong suit. I suppose another concern with the author, could be that is taking on too much work, now that that she is working on two Manga.
I wish shitty editor wasn't a thing, but we've had that discussion before regarding Jump, where potentially solid series get trashed because Jump assigned a shitty editor. Jump straight up killing it it for any other reason, is also something that doesn't need much explanation because again, Jump has left their readers pretty disappointed with some of their choices on what they support and they axe.
Edit: Okay, pretty sure this is Nishi Osamu's wheelhouse. So if this doesn't pan out as a result of what she is doing, I'd be more worried about her stretching herself thin between Iruma and Ichi. On the other hand, given that she isn't doing the art, that might be less of a concerned. Honestly, my big concerns with this are going to be Jump fucking things up.
I'm not too worried about this trying to push bullshit gender norms. In fact, based on how Iruma has gone. I kind of expect a central theme of this is going to be challenging societal norms. I kind of expect this is will pull some similar themes from Iruma, where like Iruma, Ichi is effectively going to be a stranger in a strange new world, trying to find his way.
They've established that the "meeting new people" phase is over, and now it's time to focus on the people Gero has already met to determine who he wants to marry.

Also new plot reveal with Kinosaki.
Losing my mind at how hard Gero x Kinosaki is being pushed.

So uh, I gave Elusive Samurai a shot... it started out a wacky comedy like it was The Apothecary Diaries in tone then all of a sudden hyper gore and violence? Okay...

Hmmm, I did like Assassination Classroom a lot more than I expected to based on the premise.

So the Dandadan premiere discussion (spoilers? but not really for manga)
Ours had a 20-minute portion at the beginning with interviews of the two main VAs, the director (who has a binder of tiny drawings of cool shots of many movies/ films he's watched, pretty awesome), the mangaka and the editor.
Breakdown of the episodes:
1 - Ends with them just escaping the ship into the streets (?) or Okarun's name reveal, not quite sure where the cut is
2 - Seems to end with Momo passing out post-Flatwoods Sumo battle
3 - Seems to be Seiko's intro and ends with them leaving the house in ceremonial robes to challenge Turbo Granny
There have been two or three episodes of Pseudo Harem now where they put this generic about 12 second merry go round sounding loop as BGM and just leave it repeating nonstop for 7-8 straight minutes even as it goes through different scenes and transitions and it makes me question if they shot everyone involved in post-production or the editing process.

Is Manga talk here too? I ask because I normally lurk D&D and they don't have much manga/anime stuff.
Anyway after enough of "You've gotta read this" I decided fine, I'll splurge a bit of cash on the first few volumes of Witch Hat Atelier, seems like a good story and well illustrated.
This is me approximately 2 minutes after finishing Volume 1:
Good place to talk about it, because the anime adaptation should be appearing this winter, I believe.
yeah, the thing that finally convinced me to plunge into the manga was an emphatic "Yes. The anime is coming. It will be great and you should watch it. But the manga is very important to it, thematically, and it deserves being read:"

To be honest, the fact that this is by the lady writing Iruma is the only reason I'm giving it a chance, because yeah, the first chapter's premise would probably have made me bounce off a manga by someone who I don't trust to be competent. It's a premise far too prone to "haha man does women's job better".
Though even then, Iruma spent a bunch of chapters being kind of irritating in terms of just being a plain power fantasy isekai of the type "everything goes right for our protagonist out of sheer dumb luck, literally every girl falls in love with him, the universe itself conspires to give him everything forever" before it hit its stride, so I'm still feeling cautious.

The Dandadan move ruled. This show has hit potential.
It opened with an interview of Okarun and Momo's VAs, the author, editor, and director. It was about 20 minutes and very interesting.
The movie proper was the first three episodes, and captures the series' frenetic pacing. It also oozes style. Get hyped, everyone. Series releases in October iirc.

Guessing some areas have it earlier than others.

Looks like Kyokuto Necromance ended last week, too.
Yep! Muse Asia sponsored it to release in Southeast Asia late August/Early Sep.

Hell, they're already halfway there with Brave Police J-Decker in SRW30.
