I recently got into this game and I gotta say I am really enjoying myself.
What truly surprised me was just how much Fun, with a capital F, everything is. I enjoy the gameplay, but holy shit on a shingle the characters are absolute 11/10 standouts. Every cutscene, every character interaction is positively oozing with style and charm. And don't even get me started on the animations! Jesus Christ!

This dude's been posting slow-mo showcases of all the characters that really helps appreciate how many little details and how much characterization all their animations have, especially the ones developed more recently (eg Lucy and Piper). Though also, be warned, lots of horny posting there too.
Which also makes me really curious what Miyabi's going to look like in the end, since she was only (I think?) in the very, very first closed beta and her animations were absolutely nowhere near the standard of where animations are now. Mostly just effects without a lot of actual movement.
Considering that PEN is something that gets better the more of it you have...
Although I admit that flat PEN is a mystery to me in terms of how effective it is.

Billy has a really cool bit in his trust event for his character.
Where at least part of his comic relief persona is an act. A group of Raiders is completely terrified of him, and if you press him on he responds in a very serious tone, "What secrets are you asking about... Manager?"

It's neat that his final Trust event unlike the others is in Hollow Zero.
Which seeing what happens, it does make sense it happens in a place far away from the public eye. Chapter 4 should start bringing things to light however.
The v4 beta stuff is out as well for Caesar and Burnice.
Not really digging in deep here, but Caesar looks like she lost a bit of damage and gained a bit more daze, though it bears re-stating that her daze on everything but her defensive assist and counter still isn't main stunner level like people seem to be assuming elsewhere. Comparable to Seth's if you're just out there raw-dogging maxmimum i-frame Exs. Her shield got nearly cut in half. The progression of the atk buff was also smoothed out and it no longer jumps from like 400 to 1000 from D to F.
I'm not sure I have the context to understand Burnice's changes. Besides her ult now giving her half her gauge, only really her Ex was touched, and her damage numbers mostly went up a bit (and daze slashed), but her held flame jet attack that's the core of draining energy/activating her whole schtick got the energy drain cranked way up, though the threshold for the 'exit' flame blast (like Piper does with hers) got lowered, so you can hold it... deeper? Not longer considering the increased drain, but to a lower level? Anyway, she drains energy faster and can get back off the field faster, and is doing more damage with it, but is way less energy to damage efficient, which seems like a net buff since she wants to mostly be off-field anyway?

Last night I had an inky hide and seek event ruined by a random proximity activated Nicole trust event and, I will, and I cannot stress this enough, never overcome this grudge- this vendetta- I am carrying toward her right now.
Helpful tip about befriending Inky. You can see if he's (she's?) available on the map movement screen each day without having to run around and check. There'll be a blue exclamation point for a trust event if so. That also appears if there's any characters with trust events though, so you need to clear them out, but pretty sure Inky is evening/midnight online and most characters are gone by then.
Also, Ellen randomly gave me some freeze chips for running into her one time in a trust event outside the bangboo store, and I haven't been able to get it to happen again, or get chips from anybody else, so now I'm wondering if I hallucinated it.

I legit can't decide if I wanna try to get into this game. I am super wary of venturing into additional gacha because I have spending issues T_T But I watched a bunch of trailers and it looks kinda cool Is it nice to F2P or does it pull a bunch of garbage like some other games? I also need to setup my Switch Pro Controller for Android because I refuse to play touch games with analog movement :P (honestly one of the big reasons I was avoiding this one but it should be ok if I setup my controller)

I do not encourage people with spending issues to play gachas, period. And I'm sure it does pull some garbage, as all gachas do. That said, for people who can resist the urge, ZZZ seems relatively F2P friendly so far? You certainly don't need to get all the characters or duplicates of stuff to clear all of the content in the game. I've still only got the one limited character (because I've been hoarding so much), and I'm having no real issues, as someone who is a low spender. It just takes a while to get to the point where you can start maxing characters out, to realistically be able to clear the highest difficulty stuff.
I can't speak to controller usage on Android, as I only play on PC.
I've spent like 10 bucks on the monthly pass and I've been able to get most of the characters I've wanted. There's certainly luck involved but if you are patient you don't have to feel like you're missing out.

Welp, I tried to download it, got partway through the tutorial stage, only to discover apparently the shoulder buttons on Switch pro controllers don't work with Unity games? (or at least they don't work with ZZZ, but it sounds like it's all Unity). Because, great job guys.. -_- It wanted me to use an ultimate and I literally could do nothing but force close the game... Sighhhhhhhh
I went and dug out my 360 wireless controller but I think the battery pack is dead on it. Doesn't seem to charge.
Well that's a shame. I had fun for like the five minutes I got to play I guess I'll try ordering a new battery pack on Amazon and hope it works (because I refuse to use touch controls)
(I could go grab my PS4 dual shock which was my original plan before I found my 360 controller but I'm too annoyed now)
You definitely don't want to use touch controls for anything other than burning energy while on a trip or away from your system. I'm sure there are some touch-only players or whatever, but we live in a civilized age with tools so we don't have to get our digits on our digital displays.
Trying to use Seth is really throwing me because he naturally cycles backwards so the third party member doesn't naturally come out, and both Rina and Grace have evasive assists, so even defensive assists will go back to Jane instead most of the time. I know you can cycle backwards manually (default is C on mouse and keyboard), but it's really throwing off my groove I've gotten into to all of a sudden have a completely different button and thought to worry about.
Managed to get Jane's Wengine as well, so I'm set up for a while. Now I'm wondering if I should buy Brimstone for Soldier 11, since I've got the currency for it, and don't desperately need the pulls. I've already got the Starlight one maxed out, though.
New area, new stories, ton of new event content and mini-game/modes

I wasn't watching leaks too closely outside of the character kits, so I really wasn't expecting the sheer numbers of updates and new features that are coming in this patch. More TV Mode improvements, can avoid TV Mode entirely when doing weekly hollow zero if you want. Can save teams instead of manually setting them every time, can swap your teams in Shiyu Defense. Biking minigame. New arcade game that gives me Binding of Isaac vibes.
Hmm I guess Chaos Jazz is for Lucy and Rina, but I wonder how well an anomaly Chaos Jazz 4pc and Freedom Blues 2pc loadout would work out, or would 20% energy regen / 10% elemental damage still be better...

Chaos Jazz is definitely meant for Burnice, but I could see it working out for a few other characters as well. I'll stick with Swing Jazz on Lucy. Proto Punk solves my complete lack of drive disk sets to give Seth; I actually had him using triple 2pc sets. Of course, Caesar and Ben will want it too.
Oh, excellent. Lucy ended up on Burnice's banner instead of Caesar's. Caesar-Anton-Piper and Burnice-Lucy-Nicole. Lucy's M6 is nuts, but Piper only REALLY needs her M2, though M4 and M6 are both pretty major quality of life.
