The Guiding Principles and New Rules
document is now in effect.
The current plan is to attempt to start the Holiday Forums on December 23rd sometime during the day. During this time, the Future State Planning Center will remain open. The Holiday Forum merge will last (if Vanilla cooperates) until January 3rd.

Particularly because Early Access games tend to be aiming to be played forever, so having a ton of them on deck is kind of counterproductive.
Spacebase DF-9, currently sitting at 17% on Steam. Its a particularly reviled scenario because when they decided to abandon it they made one last fuck you of pushing the unfinished game out of Early Access to full release as-is, then went radio silent.
Cool designs, the Lego sets sold well, it being on switch probably helps projected sales. Why does anything exist?
Edit: also probably want something to sell between main projects, and to mitigate risk on a new project they chose to merge two established brands to attempt to broaden appeal. It’s also fairly unique amongst Lego games because the entire world is built using Lego, unlike other games where a lot of the background is just regular polygons and textures. That and they probably had data that siblings or parents and children would like to play together, since it has couch coop and is simpler than the gameplay in the main games
I'll happily buy them again.

A thing you definitely cannot do because you will not have steady sales over the entire early access period.
Once the money dried up, they basically just hastily 1.0'd it and wrote it off as a failed experiment.
Y'all I been waiting for this for a while and this is even more exciting than I'd hoped it would be
I have a deep and abiding affection for Ghost of Tsushima, far more than it deserves, but it's an affection that's only grown with time and distance. It remains one of the absolute most gorgeous games I've ever played, with environments so gorgeous that I 100%'d that game just to see all the locations in it. I used photo mode in that game! I rarely do that! And I took dozens of screenshots and videos. It is a game that, aesthetically, hit me where I lived and created so many cool moments that I still think about
It's got a deeply ahistorical story that doesn't dig into its core themes nearly as well as it should, and its side content is often lacking in cinematic production value compared to the rest of it, and there are some collectibles that I think are largely pointless (eighteen different flavors of the same headband, for example) but god I loved just traversing that environment and cutting dudes with my katana
It also had a multiplayer that, while completely tacked on and which quickly died, was genuinely cool and played shockingly better than it had any right to! There was like, some build potential in the classes for that! It had real Mass Effect 3 energy! I kind of wish they'd bring it back for the sequel, or at least make it a dedicated side game, small in scale but well supported
All I want is to ride around in drop-dead gorgeous environments and cut dudes and collect more meaningful stuff, and that shot in the trailer of the pan up to the mountain sent chills down my spine because that's exactly the aesthetic experience I want, good god. I cannot wait to play that!

The concept of a mix between desperados/shadow gambit style gameplay and xcom is definitely a formula I think is a great idea tho, it sucks that technical issues and other problems held this game back, cos I think it’s a cool idea
As is my nature, I will once again stump for Stray Gods. Erika plays Hermes, a fantastic supporting character, who becomes a lead character in the DLC that came out recently.
(They're also the voice of Ana Bray from Destiny, Dr. Wenjie Evans from Deahloop, and Valkyrie from Apex Legends, and they're also apparently going to be in DA: The Veilguard. They have a solid video game VA resume!)
Appreciate this reply, thanks. Sounds like I have some work to do on how I approach these games.

Huh, this is a thing
Predictable but still exhausting.
They had to have thought of an easier name than "Aghasba".
and the gengars who are guiding me" -- W.S. Merwin
Other than being a woman, what was in that trailer to be upset about?
I mean obviously racism and rage bait and all that shit, but even with that I don’t see how you could get much of a feel of anything in terms of identity or politics?
Which is why "Towers" is the big word with all the dressing on it.
I assume they're just looking at the actor playing the MC, who is openly queer and left-leaning
Because for all their hee-hawing about keeping "politics" out of games they're more than happy to drag it in if it means they can try and beat up on it
Bingo

Assassin's Creed pushed into Feb of next year, which is Monster Hunter and Yakuza's month.
makes me wonder how far out it will be from Yotei, although I have to imagine that game will be in the second half of 2025
After the credits, there is a bonus world, as is the style since Super Mario World and more or less every New Super Mario Brothers game. This begins with four levels that are well-designed challenge levels, where you can tell that they were going for a much less forgiving difficulty than the main game (and they lock you into the "hard" difficulty mode, where you can no longer use power-ups from your inventory mid-level, the way Mario 3 implemented it). Starting at level 5, however, they brought on a kaizo level designer for the remaining four levels. Which is to say the first several rooms of level 5 are a protracted tutorial on shell-jumps, where you grab a shell, jump up close to a wall, kick it in midair, and then precisely time your jump speed to land on the shell and clear the wall. Which you're then required to do to clear the next several levels, frequently after several other near-frame-and-pixel-perfect stunts, where failure resets you entirely back to the start of the room. And, for these levels only, you don't have the usual Mario-style power-up buffers; any damage kills you instantly.
The level designer's avatar helpfully reminds you that you don't actually need to clear these levels, and if you're not having fun you can just quit.
This isn't actually true; there is something at the end of the bonus world:
I actually don't mind so much that the kaizo levels exist in the game. What frustrates me is that they show up halfway through the bonus world instead of at the beginning. Celeste's DLC opened with a few jumps that require advanced tech you needed to know to collect all the hearts in the main game, so in that case I knew that I needed to back down and aborted immediately instead of being suckered into thinking I could reach the end of the bonus content and then being slapped with levels designed for platforming perverts.
I'm "kupiyupaekio" on Discord.
I'm sure it's happened, but I can't recall it
yeah I don't mind watching kaizo games, but good lord do i not have the skillset to play them
for most of these I wouldn't even know where to begin
yeah Mirage was reported to be delayed internally, but that was before any street date was announced, so no big deal
the last one before that I can remember was the specific PC version of asscreed 3, back when multiplatform releases were a bit more difficult
