So, I'm getting a DS. I know nothing of what games are available 'cept for Pokémon wich I'm tempted to get :) Other than that I guess I'm asking, what games are the creme de la creme, absolutely must have titles? I, as many of you, don't have that much time to play games anymore so .. top3 or top5 suggestions would be awesome!

Portrait of Ruin is the only "meaty" DS game I've poured significant hours into and felt genuinely satisfied with. Otherwise, I just dicked around in Animal Crossing.

Do the DS Castlevanias live up to the quality of the [two first] GBA incarnations? Loved the hell out of them. I saw a Children of Mana game was out, anyone have any impressions of that one? I'm quite the Mana-fan :) Also, RPG's in general, anything good out? Phoenix Wright intrigues me more and more.. Thanks for all the tips!

EDIT: Is there a DS Lite out now? Is it alot better than a normal one?

    Not for much longer!

And wait, you didn't play Aria of Sorrow on the GBA? Shit, get on that. That and Portrait of Ruin are the best of the batch. (Some might tell you that Dawn of Sorrow's superior to Portrait, but they're all sipping off the crazy-keg.)

I went into portrait of ruin a Castlevania newbie and was not so impressed... I mean, it was a good 8 hours of entertainment, but I didn't care enough to go for alternate endings.

-Tiger Woods is a good game, I have had a bunch of fun with it.
-FF3 is cool if you are into the old school RPGs, I like it more than Pokemon, but I don't really like gay japanese stuff, so if you are into that I hear Pokemon diamond/pearl are damn good.
-New SMB is really good, I have spent the most time with this game.
-Get a homebrew kit, I don't have one yet, but I think they sound pretty cool.
-I have and don't like Animal Crossing, Age of Empires, and a couple others that I have forgotten...
-I'm interested in Phoenix Wright, it may be worth checking out.

Oh wait, I meant the first and third GBA Castlevanias :) Aria of Sorrow was my favourite one, didn't care much for the 2nd one whatever it was called.

Portrait of Ruin was my first castlevania game, and apparently I got the "good" ending on my first playthrough. I loved it so much I kept looking for areas I missed so got lots of stuff.

I also started it again, and now I have a suit of blue armour throwing axes.

    1) The DS Castlevanias surpass the GBA ones, in my opinion.

    2) Yes, there is a DS Lite. It's been out everywhere for about a year now. Most places have stopped selling the standard DS.

And it's pretty much universally better in every way, as well as being the same retail price. Plus it looks sexier, so hey.

We've had a few of these threads lately, so poke around and see what you find as far as suggestions, but my personal picks would be Trauma Center, Elite Beat Agents, Tetris DS, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (play this before PW: Justice for All, they build on each other), New SMB and Meteos or Planet Puzzle League.

There aren't a whole lot of stellar RPGs outside of Pokemon, honestly, but FFIII is good if you like grind-tastic old-school flavor, and I've heard good things about Mario & Luigi if you like nonstandard RPGs (think Paper Mario, Super Mario RPG). Also, buy the Hori brand screen protectors.

I'm gonna give a recommendation for trauma centre, which will probably give you RSI but is so worth it.

I'm actually surprised it took this long for a DS game to come out that involved poking breasts. After those "Touching is good" commercials I figured something like that would be a launch title.

Don't go there, just don't. Because then that will be considered a Mega Thread. Heavan forbid we ever get those again.

So we just have to live with one of these threads every 3 days.

Get Mario Kart. Seriously, if there is only one game that you can get it might as well be Mario Kart. So damn good.

Others that would be good include Pokemon, MP: Hunters has great multiplayer and Animal Crossing is good. I haven't played half of the games everyone else likes such as Phoenix Wright or Trauma Center, but I'm sure they are awesome.

Im bringing this one up again since im going to ask the same question. Im going to be away for awhile so im going to be buying a DS and 3 games. I have in a way decided that im going to get Mario kart and POR. Im not entirely sure about the 3rd though, ive been considering Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Final Fantasy 3 or Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery. So basicaly im wondering if Partners in time and Anno 1701 are any good, or if annyone else have any other recomendations. (Besides the Phoenix Wright games, since everyone seems to recomend them.)
