So, I've finally made up my mind to go to China for vacations next year. I have a few questions for anyone who's been there.
1. What is the best place to go? I mean... China is pretty big! I'm really interested in museums, architechture, art and theater... maybe even traditional Chinese opera. Is there any one place that has all of these and I can still manage to see the Great Wall?
2. I'll be going by myself, is it better to take a group tour or just wander around using a tourist map?
3. How much does this sort of trip cost? I'm guessing it's not cheap, but there have to be ways to cut down prices! Tips?
4. If possible, I also plan on making a run to Japan for a couple of days. I've been told that if I use a Chinese travel agency to arrange my trip once I'm in China it will be cheaper than having the arrangements made by a travel agency over here at home. Can anyone tell me if this is true?
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes time out to clarify any points.
