If you dye your hair find a spray, otherwise "temporary hair dyes" of black don't wash out that well as known from a friends experience who was also blond Look towards a costume store for black hair spray, although it may make your hair a bit stiff and stringy.

The temporary dyes (My hair color is blonde) also tend to have problems in that touching things will make them bleed. After 3 washes, my hair still was blackish and my pillow ended up getting black as well.
It's probably better than a real coloring from a professional if you don't want to deal with it for a few months.
For the Harry Potter movie/book releases this summer, I've fashioned a rad Snape costume. I even have the perfect hairstyle...except for the color.
I have very fine, shiny, long blonde hair, and I'd like to dye it black temporarily while still making it look as real as possible. I wouldn't mind something that takes a few washes to wash out, but I'm worried about buying the wrong thing and screwing up my hair.
So, before I run out and buy something, what can you guys tell me about hair dyes? Basically, I need something that comes in black, won't last longer than a week or two, and won't damage my hair (should I say "won't damage my hair much"?).
Why not just dye it black for a few months? Your blonde hair will grow back out, and as you get it trimmed, the black will slowly vanish.
Unless there is a problem with that (Dying your hair is always fun and it is neat to have something different for a little while.)
If that doesn't work out for you, temporary dyes are a hassle and I wouldn't reccommend them for long hair.

Probably because dyed black hair looks fucking terrible, especially if the hair is shoulder-length?
As others have said, get a spray-on color. I've dyed my hair with "temporary dyes" like Loreal Color Pulse and it lasted for weeks (my hair is also pretty light), which was fine because I wanted it to stay in for a decent stretch of time, but that probably isn't something you want to go for.
Depending on how blond your hair is, no "temporary" dye will wash out quickly, if at all. I'd say your best bet is a spray dye, which should come out easily, though will probably end up leaving your hair like a helmet until your next shower. Good luck, and commendations on dressing up for the Harry Potter releases! (I'm going as Fleur, and need to track down some way to turn my hair platinum blond and make it grow a foot and a half...)
Since that question appears to be answered, how about the other spectrum: How do those sprays work for near-black hair?
I don't think I can get away with experiments now that I'm a pencil pusher in a conservative town for a construction company, what my shoulder-length hair not being something I want to shave off.
i bought this temporary dye in taiwan, it's pretty sticky, but does the trick, and washes out just once in a shower. i have no idea what the name of it is though, my friend said it might've been promenade (sp)? when i took it out to use. i didn't see any black though, i bought the red and yellow ones.
I second getting a wig. I've only used permanent dyes, but black is always a bitch. It won't stay jet black long, but it will stay a shitty gray/purple for quite awhile. The spray would probably come out, but it wouldn't look any better than a wig.
Dyed my hair purple a couple of times years ago...used something called Punky Colour. It smelled like grape kool-aid. It only took about 8 washes to come out, but it did come out without cutting.
I've heard horror stories about different black dyes not coming out though, so if it's something that you really don't want to worry about, go with the wig idea.
I used to work at Hot Topic and we had a good black hair dye...it was called Raw or something. It works really well, doesn't smell too bad, and lasts for about 2-4 weeks. The only problems I've heard about is that if you use it on blonde hair it kinda turns to a green until it all comes out. So if you are cool with green hair for awhile and have $10....go for it.

Clairol #124 Blue black - if you can stand washing every second or third day it will stay jet black a damn long time.
Incenjucar, if you use a manic panic, punky, etc. you can get your hair back to a pretty natural color in a day or two by washing it a good number of times. Actually, the best way to use the semi-permanent dyes is to leave them in for a few hours instead of 20 min then wash them down to the color you'd like.
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

I also have blondish hair. Dyed it black once temp style, and it did sort of wash out, leaving my hair a bright, nigh florescent purple. Good times. I ended up dying it back blond again, which worked out rather well.
I don't have much to add to the current posts, but the already existent suggestions are excellent and I would say try one of them.
I am just a huge Potter fan myself, I suppose it is a bit obvious considering my avatar/title combo, and my favorite character happens to be dear old Severus, so if you get a chance, post pictures! Good luck with the dye.

I've been curious about messing around with a random stripe of red or a dark, cool color, for the hell of it.
I'll be sure to check out Manic Panic et al the next time I'm up for a vacation and want to creep people out more than usual.
Thanks.
