Pelican Cooler with X360 Elite

Can anyone tell me if the Pelican Xbox 360 Pro Cooler is compatible with the 360 ELite? I'm aware that the Elite has a HDMI port on the back, and I imagine that the Pelican cooler probably wasn't designed with that in mind. If not, is there another cooling solution for the Elite? Preferably one that isn't the vertical-stand Mad Catz one?

I could have sworn that 3rd party intercoolers were pretty much debunked here. Just make sure that the power brick is stable, and don't keep it in a place where you wouldn't keep a PC, and I think you'd be good.

Also keep an eye on the vents, make sure they are clear of dust.

They also void your warranty. Sure, it's easy to avoid that by lying your ass off, but in this case, I think MS has a point.

Pelican 3rd party stuff is just shit in general. I'd assume the Nyko stuff would be a lot safer to use if it was necessary.

The word I have heard, Nyko has the same issue.

If you are going to get a cooler, get a laptop or a physical fan to push cool air around your 360. Just moving the air can make all the difference in whether a component survives or not.

buy a regular 1foot diameter fan, you know, one of those you use for refreshing yourself, and put it behind de 360.

wouldn't that make it hotter? by forcing air into the vents it should be moving out of and disrupting the airflow?

I was told by a Microsoft employee, whose only job it is to fix retail 360s, that pretty much all of the plug-in coolers are unnecessary and will almost certainly brick the system. So yeah, I wouldn't get one.

I'm pretty sure the problem was fixed (I read something on the back of one of the Pelican boxes, and it said it was improved or something...).

I'd say just don't worry about it. The new warranty kicks ass anyway.

I have one of those fans, it works fine, provides a better gaming experience too. But do note, I only bought it after my first 360 bricked, maybe its one of the additional heatsinks that they put into it that is causing smoother gameplay, correlation and not causation.

However, as I said, the fan makes me less worried about the 360, because it does work, you can actually feel the additional airflow being pushed out, and that makes me feel alot more secure.

Uh, have you not seen the pictures of melted 360s? Thats great that it's working for you but for the majority of the people it has not worked fine and it has not worked fine with catastrophic results.

I actually used one for awhile as well and it almost destroyed my power brick.

Yeah, I'm aware of the pictures that were shown, but I've had mine for quite a while, about 3 months. Maybe it's not long enough for it to melt into my 360, but for now I appreciate its efforts at keeping my 360 cool. Perhaps I'm just lucky, but with all the new updates to the fans out there in the market, especially with the metal upgrades, I don't think you should be too wary.

Indeed, the new warranty ensures that no matter what, you wouldn't be too fucked, but at least for me, I wouldn't have to worry about waiting another 2 weeks for a replacement set.

Note, I might be the minority in this, so... It boils down to your gut feeling.

It's a far better idea to just buy a normal fan and point it at the vents rather then a fancy 360 cooler that may or may not screw it up.

A normal fan will never ever cause problems for your 360.
Unless the fan falls on the 360

I don't think you should point AT the vents, it might just blow the hot air back in, maybe you meant point the fan at a 90 degree angle to push the hotair away from the vents, allowing more hotair to escape.

And I lol'ed at the spoiler.

I meant the vents that suck in the air not the ones that put out.
