The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Games you wish that existed but probably never will
The first three were amazing, and I'd love to play another one. The only platform it could come out on and luckly would be the best for it, is the DS. It would be awesome if they still kept the visual style, made it a huge game, had co-op over download play and added mini-games.
Still, Fallout 3 and whatever "Alien" based RPG that Obsidian are working for now will probably suffice for me.
How about a sequel to Oni? That game had some really awesome gameplay mechanics trapped inside some not so well thought out levels and design. A sequel that developed on this would be cool, although I think the faux-anime stylings would probably grate a lot more these days.
Highly unlikely seeing as the original development team seems unable to produce anything that remotely resembles quality after creating the Kengo series.
Cherrn on
All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.
Although I thought Fade To Black was actually quite good. It was one of the first implementations of a 3D, over-the-shoulder action adventure. Sure it was largely flat, but it was still fun and fairly innovative for its time.
Although I might actually prefer a sequel to Another World. Which reminds me, I want to pick up that 15th anniversary edition some time.
An MMOFPS like rainbow 6 where terrorist players have to plan a network of people and attacks all over a city/world, and counter-terrorist players have to find intelligence and stop the attacks.
"Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning."
Rich Cook.
A whole myriad of mechanical designs that only exist (in semi-fleshed out form) in my head including a monstrously detailed JRPG-ish combat system (that I'm probably going to wind up detailing in that reinventing the JRPG thread at some point) the and a super frantic Zelda type Wii game where just about everything except movement is handled by pointer targetting.
A remake of Metroid II: The Return of Samus (the original was on the black & khaki GB) for DS, done in a similar way as Metroid: Zero Mission, but longer, and less linear than the original GB game.
Also, another 2D game in the series that takes place after Metroid Fusion.
Lastly, a remake of Super Metroid for DS, possibly updating some parts to correspond with the (much better) controls in the GBA Metroids (use one of the triggers as a shift key for missiles, for instance) or using the touch-screen (for example, shooting the grappling beam using the touch-screen, or scanning with the x-ray using the touch-screen.) Since so many of us know this game by heart at this point, it would seriously kick a lot of asses if more secrets were added, new sections, and if a few places in the game were altered significantly so as to make the game feel new again. (With the option of playing the original game with no modifications, once you've beaten the new version.)
Yes! My girlfriend made fun of me for loving that game, because she doesn't see that it is totally awesome. Ghostbusters would only make it more awesome.
Actually, SNK/Playmore is in a bit of a fix right now because Sony and Microsoft have a mandatory HD clause in their licensing agreements. Moving their 2D fighters onto either platform might not be do-able unless they get some sort of special dispensation allowing them to do it.
Logic would dictate that the next 2D KoF would then be coming to the Wii since Nintendo has no such requirement, but likely they'll just cling to the PS2 life raft for as long as possible.
What I'd like to see but never will:
A GT/Forza styled sim racer on the Wii with motion control, decal creation, free online multiplayer, car auctions, and a decent physics engine. Optimally, were it to be developed by Nintendo ('cause these things seem to be first-party pet projects) I'd love to see it done by NST (makers of Wave Race: Blue Storm) because those guys are fucking awesome.
EDIT: Just noticed that NST did Ridge Racer 64 and Ridge Racer DS. I'm much more inclined to pick that up now since RR64 was probably the definitive Ridge Racer of its era.

FFBE: 838,975,107
Dokkan: 1668363315
A strategic Shining Force game for next gen consoles would make my year. No more actiony button-mashing gauntlet clones, please.
Myth 3 done by Bungie, actually.
Myth 5...
8 more Front Mission games, actually released in the states.
Marathon: Another game this time with decent graphics
Which reminds me, buy Marathon on XBLA, I want them to end this Halo fixation and get to work on their best IP.
It's looking highly unlikely

A remake of the C64 Creatures 2 game I rant on about a lot (http://webhome.idirect.com/~snedeljk/creatures-c64/is1.html), can't beat a gory cartoony game.

A remake of Bionic Commando using today's technology...
A remake of the original Metal Gear 1 & 2 using today's technology...
A new Final Fantasy game designed and based on the original games for the NES/SNES...
Pokemon Stadium 3
Theme Hospital 2
Super Mario World 4
Pikmin 3
Billy Hatcher and The Giant Egg 2
=D
A proper Ultima 9.
Also, System Shock 3.

I'm still waiting on KOTOR 2, myself.

Bioshock is kind of a spiritual sequel.
Not good enough.
Not nearly good enough.

The Paper Marios are great and all, but...cmon
You mean contra 4?

Yeah, I'm a Metroid addict...

I'd just settle for a Harvest Moon without game-ending bugs.
Turned into a Ghostbusters game.

Seriously.
I was going to post this but didn't for some reason. I'm not really into the whole "spiritual successor" thing.
