Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising is a unique massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in the legendary world of ancient Rome. For the people of the great Roman Republic, myths and legends were not mere tales, magic was very real, and their fledgling civilization was anything but assured a place in history. Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising lets you experience all the intrigue and adventure of this epoch in human history by plunging you headlong into a world where Cyclopes, Gorgones, and evil sorcerors roam, the gods are very active - and very jealous - and the barbarians are just outside the gates.

You will become more than just an itinerant adventurer or an errant thief. You will become a commander of squadrons of loyal followers on a heroic quest to attain immortality. Or you will die.

Choose Your Hero: Begin your adventure by choosing one of six character classes: Gladiator, Soldier, Nomad, Scout, Mystic or Priest.

Extreme Customization: Customize your character, minions, supplies, and camp.

Wield God Powers: Choose a god to lead you and offer them your loyalty. In exchange, you will wield powers greater than any mortal has ever known. But be warned: You must choose wisely, Hero, for once you commit to your god you can never turn back.

Revolutionary Squad-based combat: You control your own team of soldiers, priests, archers, and mythical creatures. Engage in battles with the squad you need; command your minions well, and you may reach greater heights than you ever dared imagine.

Adventure quests: Start your journey as a captive hero and battle your way to the top. Become a Hero of Rome in an epic struggle between the Olympian gods and the power-hungry Telchines.

Story-Driven Adventures: Embark on a series of heroic journeys that enhance your powers by gaining you influence with your chose god. Successful adventurers will earn many other rewards, as well.

Intense Combat Action: Find yourself defending Rome and her territories from the vicious Gauls, Samnites, and a host of other enemies who would revel in Rome's destruction. All of the combat is brought to you in the most vivid and gut-wrenching animation sequences you've ever experienced.

Your future is before you, Hero. You will be great, or you will be crushed.

I haven't really been following this game, but it sounds kind of interesting. Its gimmick is that it is SQUAD-BASED, kind of like Granado Espanada. Worth a try if you're bored and can download the 3gig beta client.

Those screenshots are old and meh, but they were the easiest ones to link without resizing and rehosting. There are much better looking shots on the the Community media page and on the main Gods & Heroes site itself.
