Prototype: Incredible Hulk with gore

-SPI--SPI- Osaka, JapanRegistered User regular
edited June 2009 in Games and Technology
Protoype is being developed by the same guys who made (the rather excellent) Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. And is kinda in the same vein. It's an open world game where you play as a shapeshifting bio-monster "thing" maybe a supersoldier gone wrong or something(that part isn't clear yet) who wakes up in New York with AMNESIA. Ok not the greatest or most original plot but it's a free roaming game where you play a guy who can suck out people's brains and turn his arms into huge blades so who really cares.

Yep, suck out peoples brains and absorb their memories. The one example they use is jumping onto a helicopter, sucking out the pilots brain and then being able to fly the chopper yourself because now you have his skills. You can also then shapeshift into the person you consumed.

Also parkour!
So, for example, in that playable [demo] you saw there, you can be parkouring over a car and another car gets flipped over that car and it's coming at you [at] 50 miles an hour and you parkour over that second one
Which sounds awesome, these guys made the movement in HULK:UD extremely fun so I can only hope they can make it even more fun here.

I hadn't even heard of this game until it was mentioned on 1up yours this week and I'm already very interested. HULK:UD was absurdly fun, and this looks to build on that with a whole lot more interesting things.

Oh yeah it's for PC, PS3, 360.

This has just come to the forefront of my attention.
I'm definitely keeping my eye on it.

Any idea on a release date?

I'm kind of getting sick of every game and movie involving parkour somehow.. but if it's as awesome as the hulk then sign me up.

Seriously though parkour is the new bullet time.

I like that first screen shot.

    "Hey guys, how's it going?"

The trailer makes me really excited, but I'm worried it's just all pre-rendered bullshot and none of the abilities or movement is going to be as awesome/fluid in the actual game.

Then again it's going to be a while before it comes out, so... *shrug* I am optimistic.

It depends on the context I guess. In things like Die Hard and Casino Royale it's just silly and out of place.

I don't think we've reached the abuse of Parkour yet. Very few games actually do it (in fact, I can only think of 4 games that have already been released that use it.)

Didn't really count spiderman in that.

But the other two would be Getting Up: Contents under Pressure and TMNT.

Personally, I cannot wait for a game to come out that is like a total adrenaline mind fuck.

Parkour is just awesome, and I love little more than jetting at top speed into head on traffic in many games, narrowly dodging explosions and shit. I want a game with this.

It's not very hard to look up the word. Parkour has gained a lot of popularity so it's not surprising to see more and more games that make extensive use of it.

    THANK.

    GOD.

    YES.

When they said that there would not be UD 2 I was really, really sad...then this came. Ultimate Destruction is one of the funniest games I have ever played.

This looks like it will be even funnier. I mean, it's like Sylar from Heroes, only that you get skills and stuff from EVERYTHING.

    SOLD.

As far as I'm concerned "parkour" is just French for "fucking ninja".
It's actually French for course, I believe. As in, obstacle course

Anyway, does anybody else think freaky mutant guy's hood looks like a modern version of Altair's costume?

This game looks great, but am I the only one disturbed by the fact that the guy's clothes mutate with him? It just looks... odd. And strange that he gets significantly bigger, but he doesn't burst out of his clothes.

I dunno, if they wanted to go for a unified "look" they could keep the hood of his hoodie intact while everything else is shredded, but that's just me.

I seriously dug the last Hulk game (even if the Hulk's noises scared the crap out of my rat terrier), so I'll be checking this out for sure, though.
