Single Player Demo - 9.25.07
PC gamers now have a reason to mark a big circle around September 25th on their calendars as the single player demo for Crysis will be lighting up rigs worldwide in just 30 days.
Consisting of the entire first level in Crysis’ epic single player campaign, "Contact", gamers will get to finally experience first-hand the stunning visuals, revolutionary Nanosuit gameplay and open-ended level design that make Crysis one of the most anticipated shooters and PC games of all time. The demo is also poised to include a huge surprise from Crytek
Sounds awesome. I'll probably d/l it and while play that other game.

If that's the same first level that they've been demoing for the past year, it's going to be a pretty hefty. Didn't they say that they're aiming for about hour long levels, with some people taking almost 2 hours if they go exploring? Either way, still better than the other FPS' demo which was 2 gigs for maybe 20 minutes of playtime.
That's actually the worst possible day ever you could release a demo for a first person shooter
It's actually not a bad idea. Elitist PC fanboys with gaming rigs that require 2000 MW to run per hour need something to do besides trying to ruin Halo 3 by posting spoilers they found on the internets. Thank you Crytech! You've saved us from much grief!
So should I consider the Bioshock demo a decent benchmark for DX9 Crysis performance? I'm going to try to run the thing today (Holy shit STEAM's servers are fast. 500 KB/s constantly without slowdown... Lovely)
My first reaction was also "what else comes out that day??"
I'm actually surprised how not excited I am for Halo 3, being a recent 360 buyer.. 0_o
but I actually think it's ballzy of them to put it out same day, fuel the 360 vs. PC war a little more. you know there will be people who say the demo (alone) beats Halo outright. I can see it already..

I say game on crytek! good luck to you!
Your not excited for Halo 3 probably because its Halo. You know what to expect and that its probably gonna be fun. At least thats the way I see it. Something like Bioshock and Crysis on the other hand are something a lil different.
I'm running 4400x2 2gigs of ram and a 7800GT (I was running SLI but one of the cards died and because of where I bought it from I can't RMA it). I was already toying with upgrading to a 8800 GTX after playing World in Conflict (kinda choppy at 1680x1050) but I suppose I'll hold off till the Crysis demo hits then decide.
So much for using the Bioshock demo as a benchmark. The damn thing doesn't work at all on the X850 without going through some unreasonable song-and-dance routine. Guess I'll just wait until September 25th to make my PC feel woefully inept.

This is why I just hate PC gaming now.
That's because BioShock requires Shader 3.0 and anything below x1000 for ATI cards do not support.
According to this, these are the estimated minimum requirements:
Minimum Requirements
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz Graphics: Nvidia 6600 or ATI X1600 - Shader Model 2.0
RAM: 1GB
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9 with Windows XP / Vista
Since it says Shader Model 2.0, one could guess that you could technically run it on your card, but the model numbers they give are higher, so who knows.

Plus, the games run on different engines, so Bioshock's performance wouldn't really indicate the performance of any game running on a different engine. UE3 (Bioshock) will probably end up being a better performer, simply because Epic's been at it longer, but Farcry showed that these guys are capable of making an optimized engine.

what?
EDIT: crap no, thats the 9th of October
When the thread title itself does the joke, it's not funny when you repeat it.
Also, I expect this game to humble a lot of PCs.
Duh. It's Super Mario 64 2.
No it's Pony Online Adventures. God get it fucking right!
Sweet! I have it preordered so I'm not too worried!
It's more than possible he didn't know. I didn't. No idea it was so soon.
I wanted the horse bridle edition but I'm not sure if I should spend that extra money
Gonna be honest: I still have no idea.
November was Mario Galaxy, and December was Brawl...

Also: Crysis demo will be DOWNLOADED the moment it's put on the net.
or the converse "i'm running an nVidia 5800 with 512mb RAM and a 1.8ghz processor. What're my chances..."
Chances of running it? Or chances of setting your house on fire when your PC explodes?
The game's ultra high settings require an 8800GTS. I'm sure a 7900 will be able to play it just fine on most, if not all, of the high settings.
It's been stated that it will. Good thing I have one
Is it...TIME TO UPGRADE?!
I meant that towards the 7900.

Fixed for me, oh god I need a new gaming computer.

All running around, beating vehicles with your fists and modifying weapons.

8800gtx will be able to max everything right? Hopefully above 30 fps?
The GTS is supposed to be able to run on max settings, so you should have no problem.
You lucky dog you.
